Temporal and spatial variation characteristics of environmental iodine elements in the Gansu region, China
Abstract Objective: This study investigates the spatiotemporal variation of iodine concentrations in drinking water and soil across Gansu Province, aiming to generate observational evidence for adjusting iodine deficiency disorder (IDD) prevention strategies, given inherent methodological limitations of historical unpaired cross-sectional surveys.
Association between stress hyperglycemia ratio and acute total occlusion in patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction
Abstract Background: Acute total occlusion (ATO) of the culprit artery identifies a high-risk subgroup of patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), but its early recognition remains challenging. The stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) reflects acute glycemic elevation relative to chronic glycemic status. This study investigated the association between admission SHR and ATO in patients with NSTEMI.
Isocaloric substitution with beef and mutton and metabolically unhealthy obesity among adults in Ordos, Inner Mongolia: a cross-sectional analysis
Abstract Background: Metabolic health differs substantially among adults with obesity, and dietary structure may contribute to this heterogeneity. In Ordos, Inner Mongolia, beef and mutton are common food sources within a livestock-oriented dietary setting rather than merely generic red-meat exposures. Methods: We analyzed 1,103 adults with obesity from the 2024 Ordos Region Residents’ Health White Paper survey.

Chaihu-Wendan Decoction alleviates obesity through PTEN-mediated uncoupling of metabolic signaling and macrophage activation
Abstract Objective: Obesity is increasingly recognized as an immunometabolic disorder driven by dysregulated crosstalk between visceral adipose tissue and the liver, particularly along the liver-omentum axis, which promotes insulin resistance and hepatic steatosis. Although Chaihu-Wendan Decoction (CHWD) is effective for metabolic disorders, its molecular mechanisms of action on this inflammatory axis remains unclear.
Mechanism of Improved Miscibility of CO 2 –Oil Systems by Multiester-Headgroup Surfactants Click to copy article link Article link copied!
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! In the pursuit of carbon neutrality, the CO2-enhanced oil recovery provides dual benefits by enabling both carbon sequestration and incremental oil production. However, its application is limited by high minimum miscibility pressure. CO2-philic and oil-affinitive surfactants have emerged as an effective, low-dosage, and cost-efficient strategy to reduce the minimum miscibility pressure.
Wheat fiber mitigates colitis via non-SCFA microbial metabolite-trained intestinal macrophages
Abstract The advent of highly refined wheat products has reduced fiber consumption, which is associated with increased risk for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We found that enriching diets with wheat fiber (WF) protected mice against colitis, especially relative to a low-fiber diet, as assessed by clinical, histopathologic, morphologic, and immunologic parameters.
Estimating the Soil Water Flux in Variably Saturated Flow With Sparse Soil Moisture Observations
1 Introduction Soil water flux is pivotal in various domains such as ecological regulation (Novick et al., 2016), agriculture production (Ren et al., 2000), underground water management (Sophocleous, 1991), and forecasting geological disasters (Baum et al., 2010). Numerous methods have been proposed to measure water flux in soil (Bresler, 1973; Cary, 1970).

Novel Cyclized Hexapeptide‐9 Outperforms Retinol Against Skin Aging: A Randomized, Double‐Blinded, Active‐ and Vehicle‐Controlled Clinical Trial
1 Introduction Skin aging is a multifactorial process driven by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors, characterized by a progressive decline in its functionality and regenerative capacity. Intrinsic aging is marked by loss of elasticity, dry skin, and fine lines, while extrinsic aging is manifested by deeper wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, and telangiectasias [1, 2]. Together, intrinsic and extrinsic aging damage the structural integrity and functional capacity of all layers of the skin.
Fat-rich diet reprograms intrapulmonary neutrophils to boost tissue-specific antitumor immunity
Abstract Neutrophils adapt to tissue-specific signals and exert innate defense functions against infections and malignancies. Fat-rich diet (FRD), such as high-fat diet (HFD) and ketogenic diet (KD), has complex impacts on immunity. However, whether and how FRD shapes tissue-specific functions of neutrophils remain unclear. Here we show that both isocaloric HFD- and KD-fed mice demonstrate enhanced neutrophil-mediated pulmonary tumor resistance than chow diet-fed mice.
A fluorescence and colorimetric dual-mode LAMP method for detection of Vibrio parahaemolyticus
A fluorescence and colorimetric dual-mode LAMP method for detection of Vibrio parahaemolyticus† Conventional nucleic acid detection technology for foodborne pathogens relies on advanced analyzers and professional technicians, but in areas with limited resources, this method limits the rapid detection of pathogens, which highlights the importance of developing a method suitable for on-site detection. A dual-mode detection method was proposed for Vibrio parahaemolyticus (V.
Wheat fiber-induced peripheral regulatory T-cells suppress development of colitis
Abstract Reduced dietary fiber intake is associated with, and may have contributed to, the post-mid-20th century increase in immune-mediated chronic inflammatory diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease. Reduced fiber intake has resulted, in part, from highly refined foods. For example, modern methods of producing bread removes much of the fiber naturally present in wheat kernels. Accordingly, we hypothesized that wheat fiber might protect against chronic inflammatory diseases.

Analysis of pulmonary sequestration cases, based on the 11-year birth defects surveillance data of Changsha hospitals - Scientific Reports
Abstract Pulmonary sequestration (PS) is a rare congenital malformation that is characterized by the absence of a connection between a portion of the lung tissue and the tracheobronchial tree, with blood supply from arteries throughout the body. Abnormal lung tissue cannot perform the normal gas exchange function. In the absence of timely diagnosis and early intervention, some cases may need labor induction, and some of the infants who survive may develop symptoms in childhood.

Targeted protein evolution in the gut microbiome by diversity-generating retroelements
Abstract Diversity-generating retroelements (DGRs) accelerate evolution by rapidly diversifying variable proteins. The human gastrointestinal microbiota harbors the greatest density of DGRs known in nature, suggesting they play adaptive roles in this environment. We identified >1,100 unique DGRs among human-associated Bacteroides species and discovered a subset that diversify adhesive components of Type V pili and related proteins.

Genetic influences on brain and cognitive health and their interactions with cardiovascular conditions and depression - Nature Communications
Abstract Approximately 40% of dementia cases could be prevented or delayed by modifiable risk factors related to lifestyle and environment. These risk factors, such as depression and vascular disease, do not affect all individuals in the same way, likely due to inter-individual differences in genetics. However, the precise nature of how genetic risk profiles interact with modifiable risk factors to affect brain health is poorly understood.
Rational electrochemical design of hierarchical microarchitectures for SERS sensing applications - Nature Synthesis
Abstract Electrochemical deposition has been widely used to prepare conformal coatings but has rarely been used to design well-defined micro/nanostructures. Here we report electrochemical synthesis of complex, hierarchical inorganic microarchitectures simply via programming the applied potential waveforms. We identify two distinct electrochemical growth modes—the stacking mode and the flattening mode—under different potential waveforms.
