Case Report: Recurrent abdominal pain with elevated pancreatic enzymes in type 2 diabetes mellitus: a case of IgG4-related autoimmune pancreatitis misdiagnosed as acute pancreatitis
Abstract Background: IgG4-related autoimmune pancreatitis (IgG4-AIP) is a rare autoimmune pancreatic disorder with non-specific clinical manifestations that is often misdiagnosed as acute pancreatitis (AP). Its coexistence with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) may further complicate recognition of the underlying pancreatic disease. Case presentation: A 60-year-old male with a 4-year history of T2DM was admitted for diabetic complications manifesting as blurred vision and lower limb numbness.

Minimize flow-induced uncertainty in polarization sensitive optical coherence tomography imaging using eigen decomposition
Blood flow alters the scattering behavior of penetration light, causing instability in the polarization state to emerge at the underlying tissue during polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography (PSOCT). We propose an eigen decomposition method to meet this challenge, where the static and dynamic scattering signals are separated for PSOCT to provide the polarization measurements of the tissue of interest that is located beneath the blood flow.

PayPal's Key-Value Store Goes Open-Source
Today we are delighted to share JunoDB as an open-source project on Github, allowing others to benefit from our efforts to have an extremely scalable, secure and highly available NoSQL infrastructure. JunoDB is a distributed key-value store that plays a critical role in powering PayPal's diverse range of applications. Virtually every core back-end service at PayPal relies on JunoDB, from login to risk to final transaction processing.
De-aliased depth-range-extended optical coherence tomography based on dual under-sampling
Abstract We demonstrate a dual under-sampling (DUS) method to achieve de-aliased and depth-range-extended optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging. The spectral under-sampling can significantly reduce the data size but causes well-known aliasing artifacts. A change in the sampling frequency used to acquire the interference spectrum alters the aliasing period within the output window except for the true image; this feature is utilized to distinguish the true image from the aliasing artifacts.

Highly accurate, absolute optical encoder using a hybrid-positioning method
Abstract An absolute optical encoder with nanometric positioning repeatability is introduced and investigated. The encoder consists of an improved scale grating and a compact two-probe reading head. The scale grating contains multiple unevenly spaced distance marks that are superimposed onto grating grooves. The two probes, which are located in the sensor head, read the marks and the grating grooves to determine the position and displacement simultaneously.
High-Dose Perioperative Atorvastatin and Acute Kidney Injury Following Cardiac Surgery: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Objective To test the hypothesis that short-term high-dose perioperative atorvastatin would reduce AKI following cardiac surgery. Design, Setting, and Participants Double-blinded, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial of adult cardiac surgery patients conducted from November 2009 to October 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
