Association of albumin to neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio with survival cachexia and severe malnutrition in patients with cancer
Abstract This study aims to develop and validate a new inflammation-related indicator - the albumin/neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (ANLR) through a multicenter cohort study. The study assesses the prognostic value of this indicator for the overall survival (OS) of cancer patients, as well as its association with severe malnutrition, cachexia, and Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS). Kaplan–Meier and Cox proportional hazards regression analyses assessed the relationship between ANLR and OS.
Combined Inflammatory Burden Index and hand grip strength for prognostic assessment in gastric cancer patients: a multicenter cohort study
Abstract Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is associated with heterogeneous prognosis, and individual inflammatory or nutritional markers have limited predictive value. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a novel grading system integrating the Inflammatory Burden Index (IBI) and handgrip strength (HGS) for prognostic assessment in GC. Methods: Kaplan–Meier curves and log-rank tests were used for survival comparisons.
Model predictive control for intelligent PID self-tuning in HVAC systems achieves adaptable energy savings in ultra-low energy buildings
Abstract In ultra-low energy buildings, maintaining the HVAC efficiency under dynamic operating conditions remains a critical challenge, particularly for conventional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers with fixed parameters, which lack the adaptability to handle system nonlinearities and variable meteorological loads.
Comprehensive Management of Complex and Refractory Urolithiasis: Minimally Invasive Techniques, Perioperative Optimisation, and Recurrence Prevention
Background: Complex and refractory urolithiasis represents a growing clinical challenge, characterised by a large stone burden, recurrent disease, anatomical abnormalities, infection, and metabolic risk factors, all of which complicate management and increase morbidity. Contemporary management has shifted toward risk-stratified, minimally invasive strategies supported by advances in endourology, perioperative optimisation, and individualised patient assessment.

Bacterial pathogens and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles in acute appendicitis in children: a retrospective study at a tertiary hospital in Ningbo, China
Abstract Objective: To investigate the distribution of bacterial pathogens in intraoperative specimens from children with acute appendicitis, characterize the antimicrobial resistance profiles of predominant Gram-negative bacteria, and compare microbiological differences between non-gangrenous and gangrenous appendicitis.
Nutritional-C-reactive protein ratio as a prognostic marker in gastric cancer: a multicenter study
Abstract Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the association of baseline Nutritional-C-reactive Protein Ratio (NCR) with overall survival (OS), severe malnutrition, and cachexia in patients with gastric cancer. Methods: Baseline NCR was calculated as BMI (kg/m2) × albumin (g/L) / C-reactive protein (mg/L) using measurements obtained at study enrollment and original continuous CRP values. The ROC-derived cutoff was used to classify patients into low- and high-NCR groups.

An encyclopedic regulatory and functional atlas of RNA interactomes
Abstract RNA molecules interact extensively with each other and with RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) to regulate gene expression. To improve detection of RBP–RNA and RNA–RNA interactions, we developed the rbsSeeker and rriScan tools and integrated the interactions into the Encyclopedia of RNA Interactomes (ENCORI), providing web-based modules to explore RNA interactions.

Frozen by Heating: Temperature Controlled Dynamic States in Droplet Microswimmers
1 Introduction Active matter is defined by the nonlinear conversion of free energy on the molecular scale into macroscopic dynamics:[1] these nonlinear dynamics pose a challenge to the control of active agents, as small changes in system parameters can crucially tip the system over into a new dynamic equilibrium, for example from metastable inactivity to a state of directed motility.

Recreating YouTube from Scratch: My Journey in Building a Complex Web Platform with My Coding Skill Set.
Yibo chen · Follow 6 min read · -- First off, something that looks simple often turns out to be incredibly complex. Over the past six days, I’ve been building a YouTube clone website from the ground up using my coding skills. Creating an exact replica of YouTube? Let’s just say it’s no small task. YouTube is packed with so many features and responsive designs, it’s more like a project for a dedicated team over months — not a one-person, six-day sprint.
Vertical directional coupling based grating emission engineering for optical phased arrays
In this Letter, a novel, to the best of our knowledge, vertical directional coupling waveguide grating (VDCWG) architecture is proposed to increase the length of waveguide grating antennas for large aperture on-chip optical phased arrays (OPAs). In this new architecture, the grating emission strength is engineered by the vertical directional coupler, which provides additional degrees of design freedom.
