A proposed psychometabolic endotype of polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome: bidirectional interplay between psychological distress, eating dysfunction, sleep disruption, chronic stress, and metabolic deterioration
Abstract Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome was renamed polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) in 2026 to better represent its multisystem biology. Psychological distress, eating dysregulation, sleep disturbance, and metabolic dysfunction frequently coexist, yet clinical care and research commonly treat them as parallel comorbidities.
Monotone Probability Recalibration for Turnover-Constrained ETF Portfolio Updating: A Two-Stage Machine-Learning Decision-Support Framework
Submitted: 16 September 2026 Posted: 16 September 2026 You are already at the latest version Probabilistic machine-learning outputs are increasingly used in financial decision-support systems, yet small or unstable score differences can trigger costly portfolio changes. We develop a two-stage machine-learning decision-support framework for a fixed-size exchange-traded fund (ETF) portfolio. Frozen model scores undergo non-decreasing logistic recalibration on an independent Calibration stage.
Resolving conflicting findings on low-carbon city pilots: stage-specific impacts and the role of voluntary vs. mandatory policies in emissions reduction
Abstract Although China’s Low-Carbon City Pilot (LCCP) policy has been extensively studied, its precise impact on carbon emissions remains contested. Some studies report substantial reductions in emissions and intensity, while others find limited or no effects. A key reason for these discrepancies is the failure to distinguish between the policy’s three distinct implementation phases.

You are already at the latest version Validation-based machine-learning model selection in temporally dependent, weak-signal data can produce a clear numerical winner without sufficient evidence that the choice will remain reliable out of sample. This study develops PC-Audit (Prequential-Calibration Audit), a decision-reliability framework for auditing the evidence behind validation-selected model choices.
The Philippines pursues diversification without decoupling
In April 2026, the Philippines joined Pax Silica, a US-led initiative spanning critical minerals, energy, semiconductors and advanced manufacturing, and proposed a 4000–acre site in New Clark City for a new artificial intelligence industrial hub. But disagreement soon emerged in the wake of reports that Washington had sought jurisdiction over the hub and diplomatic immunity for US personnel.

Microglia as candidate links between hormonal signals and neuronal circuits in polycystic ovary syndrome: evidence gaps and a research agenda
Abstract Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) combines reproductive endocrine dysfunction with metabolic, autonomic, and neurobehavioral phenotypes, yet the contribution of brain microglia remains uncertain. We conducted a structured narrative review that separates human PCOS evidence, PCOS-like animal findings, PCOS-related cellular observations, and non-PCOS mechanistic bridges.
BCGNet: an AI model trained on 600 K hours of sleep data for a novel under-pillow contactless monitoring device
Abstract Sleep profoundly impacts health, yet current gold-standard Polysomnography (PSG) is constrained by cost, discomfort, and limited scalability for longitudinal monitoring. Ballistocardiography (BCG) offers a non-invasive and user-friendly alternative but often lacks the precision needed for reliable real-world applications.
A skin-conformal rigid-in-soft array-based imaging system
Abstract Array-based imaging systems offer unparalleled capabilities for mapping complex environments, but their inherent structural rigidity prevents intimate integration with dynamic, non-rigid hosts such as human skin and soft robots. While flexible visual sensor arrays offer compliance, fabrication constraints severely limit their pixel density and overall resolution.
CytoSignal detects locations and dynamics of ligand–receptor signaling at cellular resolution from spatial transcriptomic data
Abstract Cells communicate through ligand–receptor (LR) signaling interactions, but identifying when and where these interactions are active remains challenging. We developed CytoSignal to infer the locations and dynamics of cell–cell communication at cellular resolution from spatial transcriptomic data.
Engineering technology of implantable galvanic cells for silencing the bone-neural axis in gouty arthritis therapy
Abstract Gouty arthritis faces multiple challenges, such as recalcitrance to cure and recurrent flares, owing to its intricate pathophysiological microenvironment. Recent studies have focused on urate reduction, pain relief, or anti-inflammation effects alone, which often fail to provide satisfactory results. To address these challenges, an implantable manganese platinum microscale galvanic cell (Mn@Pt micro-GC) is developed.
Research progress in imaging detection of brain metastases
Abstract Brain metastasis (BM) is a common and severe complication of advanced cancer, and early, accurate diagnosis is critical to improving patient outcomes. This study comprehensively analyzes the characteristics of various imaging techniques for detecting BM. Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) remains the primary diagnostic method due to its high soft-tissue resolution, while advanced MRI techniques have improved the detection of small lesions.
Functional system-specific brain aging across the Alzheimer’s disease continuum
Abstract Accelerated brain aging is implicated in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). However, the spatial heterogeneity of brain aging patterns across different functional systems along the AD continuum remains largely unexplored. We developed functional system-specific brain age models derived from structural magnetic resonance imaging in a healthy adult cohort (n = 22,672) and applied them to 1478 participants across the AD continuum.

Biofunctionalization of mineralized collagen with platelet-rich plasma enhances osteogenesis in critical-sized bone defects
Abstract Introduction: Bone defects caused by fractures, nonunion, tumors, or infections severely impair patient quality of life. Although autologous bone grafting remains the gold standard, its limited donor availability and additional surgical trauma have driven the development of biomimetic substitutes. Mineralized collagen (MC) replicates native bone extracellular matrix but lacks osteoinductive capacity.

Abstract Background: The longitudinal associations between air pollution exposure and incident cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) among individuals with cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic (CKM) syndrome remains limited. This study aimed to estimate the associations of long-term exposure to air pollution with the incidence of total CVDs, heart disease, and stroke among Chinese individuals with CKM syndrome stages 0–3.
Turning Waste Into Wealth: Chinese Firms Are Expanding Into Southeast Asia
In 2018, China enacted the Operation National Sword policy, banning 24 categories of imported solid waste and dramatically tightening contamination thresholds for recyclable imports. Beyond the global recycling dynamics, a quieter industrial transformation is unfolding: China’s domestic waste-to-energy (WtE) sector, once driven by fierce growth at home, is increasingly expanding into Southeast Asia.
Progress in non-invasive neuromodulation based on consciousness-related neural circuits: a narrative review

Gas Competitive Adsorption on Clay Minerals and Its Impact on CO2 Sequestration and Methane Recovery
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! The carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration combined with enhanced natural gas recovery is a promising technology. Injecting CO2 into hydrocarbon reservoirs induces a competitive adsorption process between CO2 and CH4, which not only facilitates significant CO2 storage underground but also enhances hydrocarbon recovery. Clay minerals, which are abundant in oil- and gas-rich strata, provide numerous gas adsorption sites.

High resolution clonal architecture of hypomutated Wilms tumours - Nature Communications
Abstract A paradigm of childhood cancers is that they have a low mutation burden, with some ostensibly bearing fewer mutations than the normal tissues from which they derive. We set out to resolve this paradox by examining paediatric renal cancers with exceptionally few mutations using high resolution, high depth sequencing approaches.
Qi-Fu-Yin ameliorates physiological frailty in male 5xFAD mice through remodeling the gut microbiota and modulating the cerebral cortex metabolism
1 Introduction Frailty, a syndrome that can be identified in a clinical setting, is related to the aging of various physiological systems (Gómez-Gómez and Zapico, 2019). Distinguished by the decline of muscle function, frailty grows more common with age, laying a large burden on patients and caregivers (Deng et al., 2023). It exacerbates the continuous decline of cognitive function and raises the susceptibility to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) (Jang et al., 2023; Chung et al., 2022).
