Platelet factor 4 in cognitive, immune and hematopoietic aging: emerging evidence and translational challenges
Abstract Platelet Factor 4 (PF4) is a CXC chemokine abundantly sequestered within platelet α-granules. Its modulatory roles in age-related dysfunction across cognitive, immune, and hematopoietic systems have garnered increasing research attention in recent years. PF4 modulates an array of biological pathways associated with the attenuation of aging-related cellular defects; these pathways are activated by physical activity, young plasma exposure, and Klotho-related signaling cascades.
Self-assembled chamber-like cardiac organoids for modeling cardiac chamber formation and cardiotoxicity assessment
Abstract The human heart remains a central focus of biomedical research, yet capturing early chamber morphogenesis in vitro with structural and functional fidelity remains challenging. Here we show the generation of chamber-like cardiac organoids (CCOs) from human pluripotent stem cells that reproduce key features of heart chamber development. CCO formation is orchestrated by coordinated FGF, WNT, BMP, RA, and AA signaling, and regulated by transcription factors including HAND1, TFAP2B and NR2F2.
