Introduction Ascites refers to the abnormal accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity, Common causes of ascites include cirrhotic portal hypertension, which accounts for the majority of cases, malignant tumors, heart failure, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, and tuberculous peritonitis (1, 2). POEMS syndrome is a rare cause of ascites, often presenting with polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrine abnormalities, monoclonal gammopathy, and skin lesions.
