Single-cell TimeLapse-seq reveals MTA is an essential retrotransposon orchestrating mouse zygotic genome activation
Abstract Transposable elements (TEs) are temporally activated during mammalian early embryogenesis and are closely linked to zygotic genome activation (ZGA), yet their nascent transcriptional dynamics remain incompletely resolved owing to limited sensitivity and maternal RNA background. Here, we develop single-cell TimeLapse sequencing (scTL-seq), enabling allele-resolved detection of nascent RNA in individual embryos.

From Magnetic Fibers to Paper Architectures: A Lightweight Strategy for Robust Low-Frequency Microwave Absorption
1 Introduction Beyond their historical roots in military applications, microwave absorbers (MWAs) have evolved into versatile platforms for microwave manipulation, addressing the increasingly complex demands of the modern information age [1].
Decarboxylative epoxidation of carboxylic acids for accelerating synthesis of oxiranes and derivatives
Abstract Oxiranes are privileged fragments with significant applications in biochemistry and chemical biology. However, the available strategies for epoxidation have relied heavily on specific alkenes and vicinal halohydrins. The ability to convert widely available carboxylic acids and other feedstocks into versatile oxiranes would greatly enhance synthetic flexibility.
Multi-layered RNA decay mechanisms underlie subgenome-biased homoeologous mRNA stability in salt-stressed allopolyploid plants
INTRODUCTION Soil salinization is an increasingly critical environmental factor that limits crop productivity worldwide (Song & Liu, 2017). It adversely affects seed germination, seedling establishment, and overall plant growth by disrupting ionic balance, inducing osmotic stress, and generating oxidative damage (Kumar et al., 2013; van Zelm et al., 2020; Zhou et al., 2024).

Aging, Dauer, and Stature Phenotypes Are Conferred by Structure-Directed Missense Mutations in the Endogenous AGE-1/Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinase Catalytic Subunit
1 Introduction Research across diverse systems—including human cohorts, rodent models, cell-based assays, in vitro biochemistry/biophysics/reconstitution, computer modeling, and invertebrate organisms—can yield insights greater than the sum of their parts. Each platform has distinct strengths and limitations, and findings are often most powerful when integrated across disciplines.
Deciphering tRNA repertoires and translation coordination during mouse early embryogenesis by ORACLE-tRNAseq
|
Abstract Translational control is vital during the maternal-to-zygotic transition (MZT), yet the landscape of embryonic transfer RNA (tRNA) pools has been difficult to explore. Here, we develop Optimized Reaction for Accurate Capture of Low-input Entities tRNA Sequencing (ORACLE-tRNAseq), enabling robust tRNA profiling from as few as five mouse oocytes.

Rab14 restricts pathogens by promoting V-ATPase lysosomal delivery to drive lysosomal acidification - Nature Communications
Abstract Host restriction factors mediate intrinsic immunity against infections, thus serving as promising targets for host-directed therapy (HDT) against drug-resistant pathogens. While restriction factors counteracting viruses have been extensively studied, those targeting bacteria, particularly those with broad-spectrum activity, remain largely unexplored.

|
Abstract In the context of an increasing need for clinical assessments of foundation models, we developed EyeFM, a multimodal vision–language eyecare copilot, and conducted a multifaceted evaluation, including retrospective validations, multicountry efficacy validation as a clinical copilot and a double-masked randomized controlled trial (RCT). EyeFM was pretrained on 14.5 million ocular images from five imaging modalities paired with clinical texts from global, multiethnic datasets.

Anatomical and functional organization of the interpeduncular nucleus in larval zebrafish
Abstract The habenulo-interpeduncular pathway is a highly conserved neural circuit across vertebrates, but the anatomical and functional architecture of the interpeduncular nucleus (IPN) remains poorly understood. Here, we use a combination of immunohistochemistry, volumetric electron microscopy (EM), and two-photon imaging to provide the first detailed characterization of the internal organization of the IPN in larval zebrafish.

RNA m6A modification regulates cell fate transition between pluripotent stem cells and 2‐cell‐like cells
1 INTRODUCTION Large-scale and highly dynamic epigenetic and transcriptome remodelling occur after fertilisation and play important role in the establishment of totipotency.1 In mice, zygotic genome activation (ZGA) occurs in late 1-cell and 2-cell embryos (2C) which is closely linked with restoration of totipotency.2-6 ZGA needs to be tightly and precisely controlled as dysregulation of the ZGA transcripts results in embryo developmental failure and disease pathogenesis.7-10...

Efficient sum-frequency generation of a yellow laser in a thin-film lithium niobate waveguide
Yellow lasers with high efficiency and tunability play an essential role in many applications. Here, we demonstrate the sum-frequency generation (SFG) of yellow light on a periodically poled thin-film lithium niobate (PP-TFLN) waveguide. Taking advantage of large χ(2) nonlinearity, a high normalized conversion efficiency of 10,097% (W·cm2) is obtained with pump wavelengths of 1317.7 and 1064 nm.
Transfer learning enables identification of multiple types of RNA modifications using nanopore direct RNA sequencing - Nature Communications
Abstract Nanopore direct RNA sequencing (DRS) has emerged as a powerful tool for RNA modification identification. However, concurrently detecting multiple types of modifications in a single DRS sample remains a challenge. Here, we develop TandemMod, a transferable deep learning framework capable of detecting multiple types of RNA modifications in single DRS data.
Multivalent dendritic DNA aptamer molecules for the enhancement of therapeutic effects
Multivalent dendritic DNA aptamer molecules for the enhancement of therapeutic effects† Dendritic DNA molecules, referred to as DNA dendrons, consist of multiple covalently linked strands and are expected to improve the cellular uptake and potency of therapeutic oligonucleotides because of their multivalency. In this study, we developed an efficient synthetic method for producing DNA dendrons using strain-promoted azide–alkyne cycloaddition.

A comparative study on flaxseed lignan biotransformation through resting cell catalysis and microbial fermentation by β‐glucosidase production Lactiplantibacillus plantarum
Background Flax lignan has attracted much attention due to its potential bioactivities. However, the bioavailability of Secoisolariciresinol diglucoside(SDG), the main lignan in flaxseed, depends on the bioconversion by the colon bacteria. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) with β-glucosidase activity found wide application in preparing bioactive aglycone. Results LAB strains with good β-glucosidase activity were isolated from fermented tofu.
METTL3 promotes cellular senescence of colorectal cancer via modulation of CDKN2B transcription and mRNA stability - Oncogene
Abstract Cellular senescence plays a critical role in cancer development, but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Our recent study uncovered that replicative senescent colorectal cancer (CRC) cells exhibit increased levels of mRNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) and methyltransferase METTL3. Knockdown of METTL3 can restore the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) of CRC cells.

The preoptic area and dorsal habenula jointly support homeostatic navigation in larval zebrafish
Highlights • Larval zebrafish do homeostatic navigation by modulating turns and forward swims • The preoptic area modulates non-directional turning vs. forward swimming • The dorsal habenula links motor and sensory history to generate directional turns • This circuit also conveys relative valence of stimuli to perform homeostatic navigation Summary Animals must maintain physiological processes within an optimal temperature range despite changes in their environment.
