Optimized overdriving technique for high-speed and high-precision optical modulation in liquid crystal devices
High-speed and high-precision dynamic optical modulation remains challenging in applications such as polarimetric imaging and adaptive optics. Although the overdriving (OD) technique can improve the response speed of liquid crystal (LC) devices, it inherently induces optical bounce (OB), which severely limits phase modulation precision. We reveal that this OB originates from an interlayer angular velocity mismatch among LC molecules.
Gastric metastasis from colorectal cancer: an updated comprehensive review of epidemiology, mechanisms, diagnosis, and management
Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common and deadly malignancies worldwide, with metastasis being its most lethal feature. Although the liver and lungs are well-recognized sites of metastasis, gastric involvement as a target organ is extremely rare. The exact incidence remains unclear due to the lack of large-scale epidemiological data, and existing literature consists mainly of case reports and empirical risk estimates.

The association between hematocrit–albumin gap and sepsis risk in ICU patients: a multicenter cross-sectional study
Abstract Background: Sepsis is a major global health concern. Prior research has identified hematocrit and albumin levels as potential prognostic indicators for sepsis. Nevertheless, the specific relationship between the hematocrit–albumin gap (HAG) and susceptibility to sepsis remains underexplored.

The association between HTN and cognitive decline has been well-established [2, 3], underscoring the importance of early identification for timely intervention and delaying dementia progression.
Alpine Vegetation Under Stress: Drought Impacts on Subtropical Humid High‐Mountain Plant Communities in East Asia
1 Introduction Alpine ecosystems are usually considered priority targets for conservation under climate change due to their unique ecological characteristics and services (Grabherr et al. 2010; Ernakovich et al. 2014). Geographic isolation, tectonic uplift, climatic changes, glaciation, complex microhabitats, and a varied history of migration and evolution have resulted in a disproportionately high level of endemism (Rahbek, Borregaard, Antonelli, et al. 2019; Rahbek, Borregaard, Colwell, et al.

Samuel Hollis & Tara Cunningham - Music For Moving Pictures II EP Review — Still Listening
There is an incredible amount of depth and intricacy to be found in just two instruments. On their new EP Music For Music Picture II, upright bassist Samuel Hollis and guitarist Tara Cunningham take another swing at reinterpretations of classic movie scores, with no safety net. With such technical deft at their respective instruments and a comprehensive ear for rearranging melodies steeped in cinematic heritage, it makes for a refreshing listen.

Dynamics of a Class of Multiple Sclerosis Models with Saturated Activation Rates of T Cells
Many autoimmune diseases exhibit an alternating pattern of relapses and remissions in which the apparent self-tolerance phase is interrupted by periodic autoimmune episodes. In this paper, we introduce a class of terminally differentiated effector T cells to an existing model of autoimmune disease and investigate the stability and Hopf branching phenomenon in a model of multiple sclerosis with a saturable functional response.

g-C3N4 modified BiOCl visible light catalyst and the enhanced photocatalytic degradation/sterilization performance In an effort to tackle the disadvantages of narrow photo-responsive range and easy recombination of carriers for BiOCl materials, herein, simple calcination strategy was adopted to modify BiOCl with g-C3N4, and BiOCl/g-C3N4 nanoplates with high specific surface area (48.11 m2·g-1) and visible photoresponse were obtained.
Quantitative Assessment of Deep Gray Matter Susceptibility and Correlation With Cognition in Patients With Liver Cirrhosis
1 Introduction Liver cirrhosis causes subclinical cognitive dysfunction known as minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) (Weissenborn and Butterworth 2019; Bajaj et al. 2020). Though without identifiable clinical manifestations, MHE still negatively affects quality of life, predisposes to clinical hepatic encephalopathy, and reduces lifespan (Bajaj et al. 2020; Montagnese and Bajaj 2019).
The first is fairly obvious. The internet has fundamentally changed the way we interact and think about sex. The access to pornography has done a lot of harm; just look at the growing reach of the manosphere, but it’s also swung back around. Sex work is across the board a lot less stigmatised, and with it has changed how we perceive the shame associated with sex and nudity.
Exploring the function of plant root diffusion barriers in sealing and shielding for environmental adaptation - Nature Plants
Abstract Plant roots serve as the primary interface between the plant and the soil, encountering numerous challenges ranging from water balance to nutrient uptake. One of the central mechanisms enabling plants to thrive in diverse ecosystems is the building of apoplastic diffusion barriers. These barriers control the flow of solutes into and out of the roots, maintaining water and nutrient homeostasis.

Inside the Ever-Evolving World of Freak Slug — Still Listening
On the way to meet Xenya Genovese, who performs under the esoteric moniker of Freak Slug (itself nothing more than a joke about feeling like a freak and liking slugs), I was packed with endless others on a Central line carriage that was so hot it made my insides radiate. So when I finally made it to Bethnal Green, and found the non-descript street corner we agreed to meet at, her Mancunian charm and casual demeanour made for a welcome and literal breath of fresh air.
Amyl and The Sniffers - Cartoon Darkness Review — Still Listening
Amyl is the Aussie slang term for amyl nitrate, more commonly known as poppers. Those miniature bottles of Liquid Gold that eventually find their way into your hands on a raucous night out. The fumes expand your blood vessels, shooting a blast of euphoria straight into your head. It lasts for about 15 seconds.
Caribou - Honey Review — Still Listening
Producer Dan Snaith goes by many names, but it’s been a few years since we’ve heard from his more pop-leaning project, Caribou. Snaith wears many masks, but on Honey it’s clear that these different parts of himself have a distinct effect on the others. Having focused more energy on the more dance-oriented Daphni project, his latest offering serves up a potent mix of atmospheric but melodic dance tunes, as well as incorporating more vocals with surprisingly well-crafted songwriting.

A sunny September afternoon painted the backdrop of Dalston’s curve garden while I searched for Elliot and Virgile Arndt; the Franco-American sibling duo known as Faux Real. Jamie xx - In Waves Review — Still Listening
It’s sometimes difficult to believe that Jamie xx’s long-awaited successor to the Mercury Prize nominated In Colour is only his second LP. His debut effort, with its rainbow splattered album art, nuanced blend of old and contemporary dance sounds, and startling originality captured its listeners. It was also released nearly a decade ago, and Smith will be the first to admit that in that time dance music, the world, and Smith himself has gone through drastic changes.
