Cotranslational membrane protein biogenesis by an EMC-bound translocon
Abstract Secretory and membrane protein biogenesis occurs at ribosome-bound translocons in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. Translocons consist of the Sec61 protein-conducting channel and various maturation factors including chaperones, modification enzymes and membrane insertases, which assemble dynamically in response to the biogenesis needs of a nascent polypeptide.
Frontiers | Efficacy and safety of acupuncture-related therapies in improving insulin resistance, reproductive endocrine outcomes, and ovarian morphology in polycystic ovary syndrome: a systematic review and network meta-analysis
Abstract Objective: This network meta-analysis aimed to compare and rank the efficacy and safety of acupuncture-related therapies (ARTs) for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in improving insulin resistance (IR), reproductive endocrine outcomes, and ovarian morphology. Methods: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in Chinese and English were retrieved up to September 2025 from eight databases (the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, VIP, CNKI, Wanfang, and CBM).

Efficacy and safety of arterial blood gas analysis via distal radial artery in children
Background Arterial blood gas analysis (ABGA) is a common procedure for children with acute and critical respiratory diseases (1). It is performed at sites such as the conventional radial artery (CRA), femoral, and dorsalis pedis arteries, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Puncture of the CRA for ABGA in children is most widely used in clinical practice due to its superficial location, high success rate, patient comfort, and short compression hemostasis time (2).
Structural basis of regulated N-glycosylation at the secretory translocon - Nature
Abstract Most human secretory pathway proteins are N-glycosylated by oligosaccharyltransferase (OST) complexes as they enter the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)1,2,3. Recent work revealed a substrate-assisted mechanism by which N-glycosylation of the chaperone glucose-regulated protein 94 (GRP94) is regulated to control cell surface receptor signalling4. Here we report the structure of a natively isolated GRP94 folding intermediate tethered to a specialized CCDC134-bound translocon.

Rapid expansion and international spread of M1UK in the post-pandemic UK upsurge of Streptococcus pyogenes - Nature Communications
Abstract The UK observed a marked increase in scarlet fever and invasive group A streptococcal infection in 2022 with severe outcomes in children and similar trends worldwide. Here we report lineage M1UK to be the dominant source of invasive infections in this upsurge. Compared with ancestral M1global strains, invasive M1UK strains exhibit reduced genomic diversity and fewer mutations in two-component regulator genes covRS. The emergence of M1UK is dated to 2008.

Fluorinated Cell-Penetrating Peptide for Co-Delivering siHIF-1α and Sorafenib to Enhance In Vitro Anti-Tumor Efficacy
1. Introduction Tumor progression causes the generation of a very complex pathological environment called a tumor microenvironment (TME), which directly promotes tumor growth. The rapid metabolism and proliferation of tumor cells require an increased blood supply to meet their demand for nutrients and oxygen. This leads to excessive oxygen consumption, thus creating a large disorganized and leaky tumor-associated vasculature and the formation of a hypoxic region [1].

Adaptive Optimal Control of UAV Brake Based on Parameter Estimation
1. Introduction With the rapid development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the safety and efficiency of braking systems have drawn significant attention. Due to the coupling mechanism of vertical and longitudinal torques, the highly nonlinear aircraft dynamics model, and time-varying friction, it is challenging to establish an accurate mathematical model [1].

Alternaria arborescens and A. italica Causing Leaf Blotch on Celtis julianae in China
1. Introduction Celtis julianae Schneid. (Ulmaceae) is a large deciduous tree that can reach a height of over 25 m. It serves as a valuable landscaping and shelter tree species due to its ability to withstand soot and toxic gases [1]. Additionally, its kernels are used as raw material for soap and lubricating oil production due to their high oil content. The numerous hairs on leaf surfaces enable it to trap airborne particulates, contributing to air purification [2].

IS1-related large-scale deletion of chromosomal regions harbouring oxygen-insensitive nitroreductase gene nfsB causes nitrofurantoin heteroresistance in Escherichia coli
Abstract Nitrofurantoin is a broad-spectrum first-line antimicrobial used for managing uncomplicated urinary tract infection. Loss-of-function mutations in chromosomal genes nfsA, nfsB, and ribE of Escherichia coli are known to reduce nitrofurantoin susceptibility. Here, we report monoclonal nitrofurantoin heteroresistance in E. coli and a novel genetic mechanism associated with this phenomenon. Subpopulations with reduced nitrofurantoin susceptibility in cultures of two E.
Neofusicoccum cryptomeriae sp. nov. and N. parvum Cause Stem Basal Canker of Cryptomeria japonica in China
Abstract : Cryptomeria japonica D. Don is a coniferous tree species widely grown in southern China for its high ornamental value. Recently, during disease surveys in China, a symptom of dieback occurred on C. japonica in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. A total of 130 trees were surveyed and more than 90% showed the same symptom. The crowns of affected trees were brown when viewing from a distance, and the bark showed no difference from the healthy ones.

Learning from a robotic octopus swimmer
A robotic swimmer that mimics the movement of octopuses could help researchers better monitor aquatic environments remotely and in real time. Many were deeply touched by the unusual friendship forged between a diver and an octopus in the hit Netflix documentary “My Octopus Teacher ”. In the documentary, the first encounter was made when a female octopus camouflaged herself by wrapping a bunch of shells around her and tried to escape from the diver’s notice.
