As highs rise into the mid and upper 90s, heightened humidity will make our highs feel even more sweltering, with heat index values in the triple digits. Make sure you’re taking precautions to beat the heat over the next few days, as heat advisories are already in effect for the start of the week.

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The tropics have remained quiet over much of June, but there is now one area to watch. The area outlined by the NHC off the east coast has a 20% chance of development over the next 7 days. Sea surface temps remain warm, and surface lows across the region are causing scattered thunderstorm activity. High pressure will continue to keep us high and dry, but as our highs push higher, humidity will make the already warm highs FEEL even hotter. Sunday’s highs top out in the mid and lower 90s, with heat index values in the upper 90s.
