Targeting the Ip6k2–Runx2 axis disrupts osteoblast–osteoclast coupling to treat osteoporosis
Abstract Excessive osteoclast activation disrupts bone homeostasis, contributing to osteoporosis (OP). While Runx2 is known to regulate osteoblast differentiation, its role in osteoclasts is less clear. Using conditional knockout models, we demonstrate that Runx2 directly drives osteoclast differentiation by regulating Ctsk transcription. However, its dual function in both osteoblasts and osteoclasts limits therapeutic potential.
Polydopamine Nanodots Ameliorate Inflammatory Bowel Disease by Restoring Redox Homeostasis and Intestinal Microenvironment (Adv. Sci. 47/2025)
Graphical Abstract Advanced Medicine for Inflammatory Bowel Disease A novel melanin-based medicine composed with ultrasmall polydopamine nanodots is employed as an efficient oral formulation for the targeted treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. Identification of causal plasma proteins and targeted therapy for primary hepatic carcinoma via proteome-wide Mendelian randomization - Communications Biology
Abstract Given the paucity of therapeutic targets for primary hepatic carcinoma (PHC), we performed a proteome-wide Mendelian randomization (PW-MR) analysis integrating meta-analyzed GWAS data from 816 PHC cases and 631,599 controls with two large-scale plasma proteomic datasets (deCODE and UK Biobank). Genetic instruments for 3,907 proteins were evaluated using inverse-variance weighted MR, supported by Bayesian colocalization and sensitivity analyses.

March5-mediated Trim28 degradation preserves islet β-cell function in mice - Nature Communications
Abstract Insulin deficiency from β-cell dysfunction underpins both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. However, the regulatory pathways underlying β-cell function remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify that March5 and Trim28 as key modulators of β-cell function. March5 is downregulated and Trim28 upregulated in islets from human or mouse with impaired glucose tolerance. Loss of March5 in β-cells impairs insulin production and glucose tolerance, while its overexpression improves both.

Ten questions concerning particle exposure in open electrosurgery and its control strategies
Abstract The increasing use of high-frequency electrosurgical pencils in open surgeries has heightened concerns about the adverse implications of electrosurgical smoke (ES) on perioperative personnel. Since 2015, there has been an increasing amount of research on electrosurgical smoke particles annually. Despite data discrepancies, nanoparticles (core particle size <200 nm) generally dominate in number distributions.

Talin-1 inhibits Smurf1-mediated Stat3 degradation to modulate β-cell proliferation and mass in mice - Cell Death & Disease
Abstract Insufficient pancreatic β-cell mass and reduced insulin expression are key events in the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus (DM). Here we demonstrate the high expression of Talin-1 in β-cells and that deficiency of Talin-1 reduces β-cell proliferation, which leads to reduced β-cell mass and insulin expression, thus causing glucose intolerance without affecting peripheral insulin sensitivity in mice. High-fat diet fed exerbates these phenotypes.
Sustainability | Free Full-Text | Exploring the Flow Experience and Re-Experience Intention of Students Participating in Water Sports from the Perspective of Regional Tourism and Leisure Environment Suitability
1. Introduction Since the introduction of rowing competitions in Athens at the 1896 Olympic Games, water sports, which originated at Cambridge University in England in 1829, have become widely known and participated in by the public. As a maritime country, Taiwan’s geographic location has created many water activity areas. In addition to providing people with water-based recreational activity resources, these water activity areas can also be a niche when developing the tourism industry.

Evaluation of the yield of DNA double-strand breaks for carbon ions using Monte Carlo simulation and DNA fragment distribution
: To provide a method to evaluate the yield of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) for carbon ions, overcoming the bias in existing mothods due to the non-random distribution of DSBs. A previously established biophysical program based on the radiation track structure and a multi-level chromosome model was used to simulate DNA damage induced by x-rays and carbon ions.

Vision-Based Efficient Robotic Manipulation with a Dual-Streaming Compact Convolutional Transformer
Abstract : Learning from visual observation for efficient robotic manipulation is a hitherto significant challenge in Reinforcement Learning (RL). Although the collocation of RL policies and convolution neural network (CNN) visual encoder achieves high efficiency and success rate, the method general performance for multi-tasks is still limited to the efficacy of the encoder.
