An automated microfluidic platform for toxicity testing based on Caenorhabditis elegans

|
By Jiaying Wu, Jing Xi, Zhouhai Zhu, Qiyuan Peng
| BioRxiv
Abstract Humans are frequently exposed to a multitude of chemicals daily, necessitating efficient methods for rapidly assessing toxicity and potential health risks. Microfluidics has shown promise as an intelligent tool for rapid compound testing, owing to its flexibility in integrating with automated devices. The article introduces an automated microfluidic platform, based on Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans), designed for chemical toxicity testing.

Identification of the potential function-specific sites in subunits of vertebrate neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors

|
By Zhouhai Zhu, Fengyu Zhang, Ying Guan, Zhenhua Pan
| BioRxiv
Abstract The nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) are complexes comprising of subunits evolved from common ancestor. Although the subunits are similar in sequences and structures, their molecular function varies significantly. Therefore, detecting the molecular sites specific to each subunit is important to understand the property of the subunits and the receptors formed by them.
