Focus on Causal Research Despite the wide-ranging search terms and thousands of studies screened, I remain struck that only 166 studies were identified for inclusion in this review. As others have noted, this dearth of studies can be partly attributed to teacher education researchers’ lack of dedicated funding and time (Cochran-Smith, 2004; Sleeter, 2014; Zeichner, 2005).
