Suppose that nations became so concerned about the risks from advanced artificial intelligence (AI) that they were willing to consider bold and ambitious international coordination proposals. One such proposal involves the establishment of a new international AI authority responsible for the safe and secure development of highly advanced AI systems. This paper expands on this idea by exploring design considerations for a joint international AI lab.

Shrimp Jesus, fake self-portraits-AI-generated images the latest form of social media spam
Our team of researchers from the Stanford Internet Observatory and Georgetown University’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology investigated over 100 Facebook pages that posted high volumes of AI-generated content. We explored patterns of images, unearthed evidence of coordination between some of the pages, and tried to discern the likely goals of the posters.
“Objectivity” in journalism is a tricky concept. What could replace it?
There are many for the public’s declining trust in journalism — it’s falling for pretty much everyone — but it’s plausible that one of them is the difference in that way journalists and audiences think of “objectivity.” Objectivity is a tricky concept.
