(WJAR) — The Providence City Council will hold a vote on May 15 at 6 p.m. on overriding Mayor Brett Smiley's veto of the council's rent stabilization ordinance, according to City Council President Rachel Miller. The ordinance would cap annual rent increases at 4% annually, while leaving exemptions for property owners to address certain costs.

Amtrak service partially resumes after debris from I-95 on-ramp crashes on tracks

After service along Amtrak's Northeast Corridor was disrupted by structural debris from a highway on-ramp, the agency says one track has now been reopened. According to Amtrak, RIDOT and Amtrak crews have removed the debris from the tracks, and are currently working on repairs to the tracks and the overhead catenary system, which provides electric currents that power their trains. Trains running through the area will be pulled by diesel locomotives while the catenary system is repaired.
