Development of thiazole-based α-amylase inhibitors: synthesis, in vitro evaluation, and computational insights via DFT and molecular docking
Abstract In this research, a new series of thiazole-based hydrazone derivatives (9–14) was designed, synthesized, and evaluated for α-amylase inhibitory activity as a strategy to manage postprandial hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes (T2DM). The target compounds were obtained via a two-step procedure: condensation of thiosemicarbazide with substituted aromatic aldehydes to form hydrazones, followed by cyclization with phenacyl bromide.
Network analysis and machine learning approach identifies HSP90-associated synthetic lethal targets and drug responses in breast cancer
Abstract Heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) is an ATP-dependent molecular chaperone that stabilizes numerous oncogenic proteins involved in proliferation, survival, DNA repair, and therapeutic resistance. Despite its central role in breast cancer (BRCA), monotherapy targeting HSP90 has shown limited clinical success, highlighting the need to identify therapeutically actionable HSP90-associated vulnerabilities.
tris- Schiff Base Derivatives Containing Flurbiprofen as Potential Tyrosinase Inhibitors: Synthesis, In Vitro Evaluation, Molecular Docking, DFT and Dynamics Simulations
1 Introduction A main cellular constituent frequently detected in animals, plants, fungi and bacteria responsible for skin colour is known as melanin [1]. It exists as a complex, heterogeneous biopolymer with polyphenol-type structure, secreted by means of melanocytes in the basal layer of dermis and exhibiting colours ranging from yellow to black [2]. Normal melanin pigmentation can protect them from ultraviolet radiation, affect vitamin-D3 production and stop photo carcinogenesis [3].
Opinion Dear Editor, I Disagree: Dialogue at BRICS is a means, not an end
Two recent editorials — ‘At BRICS, the value of keeping difficult conversations alive’ (IE, September 12) and ‘At BRICS, more options, a win for diplomacy’ (IE, September 14) — make a persuasive case for BRICS as a useful forum for dialogue and diplomacy. But they set too low a bar for judging the grouping at a time when the international order is undergoing profound churn.

The New Battle for the Strait of Hormuz
Barely a month after reopening the Strait of Hormuz under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 17 to end the war, Iran has declared the waterway closed again “until further notice”—signalling the collapse of a deal many had regarded from the outset as inherently fragile. The resumption of hostility is a stark reminder of an enduring truth: it is far easier to start a war than to end one.

Dear Editor, Recent studies show that mycobiomes are pervasive in tumors and play a key role in reprogramming the tumor microenvironment.1 However, the mechanism of intratumor mycobiome-mediated tumorigenesis remains poorly understood and is an evolving area of research.
US, Israel, and the dangerous illusion of Iranian “obliteration”
After weeks of mounting threats, the United States and Israel launched massive military strikes against Iran today, targeting military and defence installations as well as certain civilian infrastructure across multiple cities. This is the second attack on Iran in less than a year citing its nuclear programme as justification. The operation risks plunging the Middle East into a perilous new phase of confrontation, one that could significantly reshape the region’s geopolitical landscape.

Can NATO withstand the Trump-Greenland test?
The United States’ recent actions under President Trump reveal a brazen disdain for international law and multilateralism. Within days of justifying a military strike on Venezuela — and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro — as a “law enforcement operation”, and following his withdrawal from climate treaties and key UN institutions, Trump has turned northwards, insisting that Greenland — an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark — can and should be taken by force.

The ICJ has ruled that Israel let aid into Gaza. Now, world must ensure Tel Aviv upholds the law
Most crucially, the Court dismissed Israel’s unsubstantiated claims of UNRWA’s Hamas links and bias, a deliberate policy aimed at discrediting the agency. Ever since its establishment by a General Assembly Resolution 302 (IV) of December 8, 1949, UNRWA has been Gaza’s lifeline and the backbone of all humanitarian assistance in the area.

It relies heavily on trust, goodwill, and diplomatic pressure in a region where betrayal, spoilers, and competing agendas are routine.
ICJ ruling signals a new era of climate justice
Climate inaction is no longer merely a political choice — it now constitutes a breach of legal obligations. On 23 July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the UN’s principal judicial body, delivered its long-awaited (though non-binding) advisory opinion on climate change, transforming what was once considered policy discretion into a legal duty.
Accepting the US-Israeli position on the Iran strikes would erode the moral permissibilities of international law

Bonding mediated coupling of electron band mass and phonon group velocity: An effective strategy to improve thermoelectric performance of solid solutions
Bonding mediated coupling of electron band mass and phonon group velocity: An effective strategy to improve thermoelectric performance of solid solutions Thermoelectric (TE) performance of solid solutions is amongst the best. Judicious choice of the alloy composition can result in band convergence and increased phonon scattering which enhance the TE figure of merit (zT) value. However, an often-overlooked fact is the alloying effect on the chemical bonds and its implications on TE performance.
Why Iran's Nuclear Programme Scares the World, But Israel's Doesn't?
By Aftab Alam, New Age Islam 23 June 2025 The long-standing question of why nuclear weapons are considered safe in the hands of some states but viewed as a threat when held by others has resurfaced with renewed urgency following recent U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran. These strikes caused significant damage to Iran's nuclear facilities at Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow, and reportedly killed several senior military commanders and nuclear scientists.

Tale of two empires: US at a crossroads
HISTORY has a strange way of repeating itself, not in the exact same way, but in patterns that seem all too familiar. The Roman Empire and the United States, separated by over two thousand years, may seem worlds apart. Yet, when you look closely, the similarities between these two powers are striking, and they tell us something important about the nature of empires and the way they rise, dominate and eventually face the consequences of their own actions and ambitions.
The Murderous And Morbid Reality Show By RSS & BJP In India| Countercurrents
Whether you watch it or not, almost everyone has heard of Big Boss, the reality TV show. It is pure, unfiltered entertainment, built on manufactured and scripted fights to keep viewers glued to their television sets. Using this analogy, when you look at what is happening in India today, under this BJP regime, you will notice troubling similarities, only the fights aren’t scripted, nor are the ramifications in real life.
Genocide| Countercurrents
Every so often, countless young hopefuls arrive in Washington, D.C., eager to help implement policies that improve the lives of Americans. But some quickly come to find out that U.S. imperialism bleeds into all areas of policy, it impacts all facets of government directly or indirectly, and sometimes at the expense of Americans in need. That was my rude awakening, at least.
