Elevated mitochondrial superoxide promotes longevity through a mitochondria-to-nucleus kinase signaling pathway
Abstract The reactive oxygen species superoxide is generated by mitochondria during the process of producing energy. While superoxide can cause oxidative damage to the cell, we and others have shown that a mild increase in mitochondrial superoxide extends longevity in multiple model organisms. To elucidate the molecular mechanisms involved, we identified transcriptional changes in mitochondrial superoxide dismutase deletion mutants (sod-2 worms) using RNA sequencing.
Aging‐Associated Vacuolation of Multi‐Ciliated Cells in the Distal Mouse Oviduct Reflects Unique Cell Identity and Luminal Microenvironment
1 Introduction The oviduct is the tube that extends from the uterus to the ovary, with four regions demarcated by their mucosal fold morphologies, epithelial cell transcription factor expression, and proportion/distribution of multi-ciliated cells (MCCs). These regions are the infundibulum/ampulla (INF/AMP), ampulla-isthmus junction (AIJ), isthmus (ISM), and uterotubal junction (UTJ) from distal to proximal, relative to the uterus (Harwalkar et al. 2021; Harwalkar and Yamanaka 2021).
Aging-associated vacuolation of multi-ciliated cells in the distal mouse oviduct reflects unique cell identity and luminal microenvironment
Abstract The female reproductive organs present with the earliest aging characteristics, such as a decline in fertility and estrous cyclicity. While age-related changes in the ovary are well-documented, it is unclear if any age-associated changes occur in the other female reproductive organs, such as the oviduct/fallopian tube.

Oviduct epithelial cells constitute two developmentally distinct lineages that are spatially separated along the distal-proximal axis
Highlights • Oviduct epithelial cells constitute two distinct lineages • Distal-proximal lineages are formed early in Müllerian duct development • Differentiated cells within each lineage have distinct transcriptomic profiles • Lineages are maintained separately and retain identity in organoid culture Summary Owing to technical advances in single-cell biology, the appreciation of cellular heterogeneity has increased, which has aided our understanding of organ function, homeostasis, and...
M. tuberculosis Reprograms Hematopoietic Stem Cells to Limit Myelopoiesis and Impair Trained Immunity
Under a Creative Commons license open access Highlights • BCG and Mtb uniquely reprogram HSCs for at least 1 year • Mtb suppresses myelopoiesis and impairs HSC engraftment • Mtb hijacks a type I IFN/iron axis to induce necroptosis specifically in myeloid lineage • Reprogramming of HSCs by a type I IFN/iron axis impairs trained immunity Summary A greater understanding of hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) regulation is required for dissecting protective versus detrimental immunity to pathogens that...
