QUINCY – The Doggy Paddlers’ homecoming didn’t go as planned as they fell to the Illinois Pistol Shrimp 25-5 in a game that was called after seven innings Thursday night. A five-run first inning by the Pistol Shrimp set the tone for the night early on in both teams’ first contest since the three-day Prospect League All Star Game. It was only the second home loss of the season for the Doggy Paddlers, and it was their first game at Quincy Stadium after a six-game road trip prior to the break.

QUINCY – For Ignacio Gonzalez, a single fateful moment on the baseball diamond changed his freshman collegiate season. What it didn’t do, though, was change the trajectory of his career. He wouldn’t let it. Gonzalez had played exactly two college games when his freshman season ended. That’s when the Miami University of Ohio infielder tore the labrum in his shoulder, forcing him to miss the rest of the year. Instead of letting the setback define him, Gonzalez used it as motivation.

QUINCY – Having already clinched a playoff spot, the Doggy Paddlers plan to use the month of July to not only prepare for the post season, but to continue to shore up their lineup. With several key additions signed over the past week, the team is doing just that.
