What was your first job as a journalist?
I began as a stringer for high school football in 2012.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
No, but I'm a geek for vintage tech, so would be fun to try.
How is social media changing news?
People are too quick to believe any news they see on social media without vetting the source. Getting through the noise is harder.
What's your favorite social network?
Facebook, but mostly for the groups, networking and connection.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I didn't discover a love for journalism until much later in life.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
A three-part series on an algae bloom that was affecting drinking water in Walker County.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Never stop being curious.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Sitting on my front porch or next to literally any body of water.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
CNN and the Associated Press
