SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (WWBT) - An urgent search is underway for a missing 17-year-old girl out of Spotsylvania. Savannah McGehee was last seen Wednesday in the area of Luray. She is about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 105 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen possibly wearing blue jeans and an off-white sweater. Virginia State Police issued a CODI Alert for McGehee on Thursday evening. Police say her disappearance poses a credible threat to her health and safety.
Ex-fiancé charged nearly 15 years after mother who was on ‘People’s Court’ vanished
ORLANDO, Fla. (Gray News) - Nearly 15 years ago, a Florida mother vanished after she and her former fiancé appeared on “The People’s Court.” Now, he’s accused of her murder. Orlando Police say 55-year-old Dale Smith Jr. was arrested Wednesday on a charge of second-degree murder in relation to the presumed death of his former fiancée, Michelle Parker. Parker, 33, disappeared on Nov. 17, 2011, after dropping her then-3-year-old twins off at Smith Jr.’s Orlando home.
US coach who recorded young gymnasts undressing sentenced to 90 years in prison
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - A once prominent youth gymnastics coach was sentenced to 90 years in prison Wednesday for secretly recording his young female students undressing and using the bathroom at a Mississippi gym, in a case that rocked the sport. U.S. District Judge Kristi Johnson gave the maximum sentence possible to Sean Gardner, ordering that he serve 30 years in prison for each of the three federal child pornography production charges to which he pleaded guilty.

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AZFamily/Gray News) - A water cooler miraculously saved a man and his dog from a falling tree in Arizona, authorities say. Deputies with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office responded Sunday afternoon to reports that a massive tree fell onto a van parked in a camping spot just outside of Prescott. “When deputies arrived, they braced for the worst. Instead, they found a man and his dog, miraculously unharmed, though the van itself was a total loss,” officials said in a statement.

ARNAUDVILLE, La. (KATC/Gray News) - A Louisiana man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he shot at a group of high school students during a toilet-papering prank gone wrong. Travis Frederick, 71, was arrested and booked on charges of attempted manslaughter, aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated criminal damage to property. His bond has not yet been set.

College student killed in crash after being hit by car going 94 mph in 35 mph zone
ATLANTA (Atlanta News First/Gray News) — A Clark Atlanta University student died after a crash Tuesday night, and the driver of the other vehicle was arrested, police said. Officers responded to the crash at Hank Aaron Drive and Glen Street around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, where 21-year-old Morgan Gamble was found in critical condition, police said. Gamble was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
