FOREST CITY — While summer can be a reprieve for many individuals, it’s not the case at East Rutherford as the Cavaliers Junior Legion baseball team prepares for a busy June. Coach Taylor Greene has a few guys he believes can have a big impact on the diamond. Those players include Riley Terry, Xavier Champion, Landon Joyce, and Cade Hunnicutt. “We are looking for our guys to try and get better each and every day,” said Greene.

Thomas Jefferson girls soccer falls in regionals

KERNERSVILLE - Despite dominating the box score on Monday evening, the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (TJCA) girls soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat to the North Carolina Leadership Academy (NCLA) in the Regional Semifinals of the NCHSAA 1A State Playoffs. The Gryphons had a strong attack all night, putting nearly 20 shots on goal, but none were able to find the back of the net.

Thomas Jefferson girls track wins state championship

KERNERSVILLE - Last Friday, Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy's girls track team literally ran away from its competitors and won the 1A state championship. Maple Cookson, Katherine Bukta, Aubrey Soper, and Haidyn Toney won the state championship in the 4X800 Meter Relay winning by a blistering 16 seconds. Coach Eric Scruggs also became the first two-time state-champion team-sport coach in school history, winning state championships in two different sports.
