Habitat and predator heterogeneity influence density of a declining mammal
Introduction Accurate estimates of population density are necessary to understand population dynamics (Fryxell et al. 2014). However, quantifying animal density is particularly difficult when population processes exhibit both spatial and temporal variability (Royle et al. 2015), due to changes in habitat composition and predator–prey interactions.
