Oh wait, we’re talking heat… Apart from a very few showers in the coming days, the weather story is all about a developing heat wave. Unlike the record dew points and heat indices to start off July, this air mass is drier and a lot less humid. There’s still an intense risk of heat exhaustion but this is not quite as dramatic this time around.

Extreme heat Sunday into next week across Minnesota

There could be a couple of raindrops later Friday into early Saturday but the looming story is the heat next week across Minnesota. Lovely weather before weekend heat “If I could bottle this up, I’d be rich!” That’s basically the forecast for Thursday all across Minnesota. The weather is tranquil, although the UV index is remarkably high so pack the sunscreen. Friday could bring a few tiny showers to the far north of Minnesota, but most parts of the state stay dry through dusk. The heat is coming.

Last big wave of rain before calmer days ahead

Much of Minnesota is seeing quieter weather Wednesday afternoon, although late evening thunderstorms are expected in southeastern Minnesota near Rochester, Austin and into La Crosse, Wis. A heat wave starts Sunday and continues for much of next week. Storm potential Wednesday This weather pattern should be called “Groundhog Day.” Just like the movie, the weather lately keeps repeating.
