Mercedes will try to argue their case against George Russell's Monaco penalties with the FIA this weekend. Image: XPB Images The team has moved to challenge the penalty sequence that dropped Russell out of the points in Monaco, with the race result still under scrutiny after Pierre Gasly was restored to the podium. The FIA confirmed Mercedes had lodged a petition under Article 14.1.1 of the International Sporting Code over the decision relating to Russell’s pit lane speeding penalty.

F1 world champ Damon Hill announces Australia and NZ tour

Image: XPB Images The 1996 Formula 1 world champion will appear alongside F1 commentator Tom Clarkson for ‘An Evening with Damon Hill – In Conversation with Tom Clarkson’ across five dates in September and October. The event will see Hill reflect on his career, including his path into F1, his time as Ayrton Senna’s teammate at Williams and his championship battles with Michael Schumacher.

McLaren and Red Bull lodge Gasly Monaco appeal

McLaren and Red Bull have lodged appeals against Pierre Gasly's podium reinstatement in Monaco. Image: XPB Images Alpine successfully had Gasly’s two five-second pit lane speeding penalties removed through a right of review last Friday, restoring him to third place. The Frenchman had originally crossed the line third in Monaco before the penalties dropped him to seventh, promoting Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar to what would have been his first Formula 1 podium for Red Bull.
