Modulating p–n transition of two-dimensional perovskites for efficient and stable perovskite/Si tandem photovoltaics
Abstract The popular and effective top-surface mixed-dimensional heterojunction in n–i–p perovskite photovoltaics is frequently ineffective in p–i–n architectures due to the intrinsic p-type character of most reported two-dimensional (2D) or low-dimensional perovskites. Here we deploy electronic engineering to realize the p- to n-type transition in 2D Ruddlesden–Popper perovskites through molecular dipole tuning and chemically designable n-type defects.

Driving a green energy transition with halide perovskite solar cells
Abstract Halide perovskites have revolutionized photovoltaics, achieving efficiencies that rival those of crystalline silicon. However, as the technology nears industrialization, the focus must shift from power conversion efficiency to the holistic pillars of reliability, scalability and circularity. This Review evaluates the technical and economic feasibility of large-scale perovskite manufacturing, appraising ecological impacts across the entire life cycle.

Stabilizing dual-phased perovskite towards high performance photovoltaics with enhanced batch stability and consistency - Nature Communications
Abstract Fabricating high-performance perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with solution processing is conducive to low-cost commercial production, it is therefore rather critical to stabilize perovskite in both solution and solid phases. For this purpose, the speed-up ageing of perovskite solution in air was systematically studied and its severe spontaneous degradation was observed.

Asparagine endopeptidase cleaves apolipoprotein A1 and accelerates pathogenesis of atherosclerosis
Abstract Atherosclerosis is a slowly progressing inflammatory disease characterized with cholesterol disorder and intimal plaques. Asparagine endopeptidase (AEP) is an endolysosomal protease that is activated under acidic conditions and is elevated substantially in both plasma and plaques of patients with atherosclerosis. However, how AEP accelerates atherosclerosis development remains incompletely understood, especially from the view of cholesterol metabolism.

Does Outsourcing Service Reduce the Excessive Use of Chemical Fertilizers in Rural China? The Moderating Effects of Farm Size and Plot Size
2. Theoretical Analysis Theoretically, the objective of service organizations providing outsourcing services is to attain maximum profit. Lack of profits causes service organizations to engage in opportunistic behavior, which reduces the efficacy of FOS in reducing the OCF. The increase in farm size and plot size enables service organizations to increase their profits through outsourcing services, thereby preventing their opportunistic behavior.

For Melissa Withem-Voss, psoriasis is more than just a medical skin condition; it becomes an identifying trait that defines how others see her. When she’s out in public with her psoriasis, she often gets unwanted attention. Even simple activities that bring her joy can be accompanied by moments of stigma and judgement for her. Melissa has had a range of psoriasis types, including plaque, guttate, scalp, palmer plantar, and pustular.
High-bandwidth perovskite photonic sources on silicon - Nature Photonics
|
Abstract Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are ubiquitous in modern society, with applications spanning from lighting and displays to medical diagnostics and data communications. Metal-halide perovskites are promising materials for LEDs because of their excellent optoelectronic properties and solution processability. Although research has progressed substantially in optimizing their external quantum efficiency, the modulation characteristics of perovskite LEDs remain unclear.

From Pain to Empowerment: Rebecca's Story
Like many people living with autoimmune arthritis, Rebecca Council’s diagnosis came with a lot of grief. After initially experiencing knee pain while working out, she noticed swollen finger joints just a few months later. Eventually, she was diagnosed with both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. “There are some days when I wake up in the morning, and I can’t physically get out of bed because my joints won’t move.
What We Learned About Arthritis and Mental Health
Every year, during Arthritis Awareness Month, CreakyJoints and the Global Healthy Living Foundation raise awareness about the nuances of living with arthritis. This year, we ran a social media campaign focusing on arthritis and mental health. We received hundreds of comments from patients, highlighting the often overlooked mental and emotional consequences of living with chronic pain. They shed light on the struggle faced by individuals with arthritis.

Metamodeling through Deep Learning of High-Dimensional Dynamic Nonlinear Systems Driven by General Stochastic Excitation
Abstract Modern performance evaluation and design procedures for structural systems against severe natural hazards generally require the propagation of uncertainty through the repeated evaluation of high-dimensional nonlinear dynamic systems. This often leads to intractable computational problems. A potential remedy to this situation is to accelerate the evaluation of the dynamic system through leveraging metamodeling techniques.

Imaging of intracellular sulfane sulfur expression changes under hypoxia stress via a selenium-containing near-infrared fluorescent probe
Hypoxia is a significant global issue affecting the health of organism. Homeostasis of oxygen is critical for mammalian cell survival and cellular activities. Hypoxia stress can lead to cell injury and death, which attributes to many diseases. Sulfane sulfur is involved in many crucial roles of physiological processes via maintaining intracellular redox state and ameliorating oxidative damage.
A near-infrared fluorescent probe for sensitive detection and imaging of sulfane sulfur in living cells and in vivo
Sulfane sulfur refers to ionized sulfur that is reversibly attached to other sulfur atoms in the form of 6-valence electrons (S0). Some sulfane sulfur possesses stronger nucleophilicity and reducibility than hydrogen sulfide in a series of physiological reactions, which makes sulfide sulfur may be the actual signal molecule in cells. Herein, we design and synthesize a near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent probe BD-diSH for sensitive detection and imaging of sulfane sulfur in living cells and in vivo.
