New trees are popping up all over Hell’s Kitchen, with hundreds more set to arrive in the coming weeks. According to NYC Parks’ tree planting map, over 500 trees are scheduled to be planted across Manhattan Community Board 4 this year. New trees were planted on W43rd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues by Beacon High School. Photo: Catie Savage Hell’s Kitchen has by far the most scheduled plantings in Manhattan, with 363 trees slated for installation, followed by Chelsea.

New York Times staff rally to demand contract

More than 100 New York Times employees walked out of the newspaper's midtown headquarters Wednesday to rally for a new contract, almost three months after their last one expired. The staff are members of the Times Guild, the largest bargaining unit of the NewsGuild of New York representing more than 1,500 editorial, advertising and support staff at the Gray Lady.

Two trees illegally stripped of their branches outside a 9th Avenue parking lot — a move that could now result in substantial fines and restitution orders — have been chopped down completely by NYC Parks.
