2025 Heybike Alpha Mid-Drive Review

I’ve reviewed several Heybikes at this point, and I’ve largely found them to be good, but not great, bikes that focus on value for money. For that reason, they typically use unbranded OEM components with hub motors (although they use brand-name cells in their batteries). With the Alpha, Heybike has entered the mid-drive market while continuing to apply its value-for-money formula.

With Spring finally here again, I’m glad to be back in the saddle and have been spending nearly six weeks with the updated-for-2025 Surface 604 Cold mid-drive. Sporting 130 Nm of torque-assisted power from its Ananda mid-drive motor, the ‘25 Colt suddenly rides as much like a sports car as it does a commuter ebike. The best part is that there is no downside.
