HOUSTON (CW39) — A Harris County deputy constable is in the hospital after being shot by a man with a shotgun in a SWAT situation on Saturday night in northeast Harris County. Dante Zepeda, a Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constable, was shot and injured, but is out of surgery and expected to make a full recovery, Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said. “Please continue to keep Deputy Zepeda, his family, and our law enforcement family in your prayers as he continues to heal,” Herman said.

FIFA Fan Festival temporarily suspended due to weather before Sweden-Netherlands match

HOUSTON (CW39) — The FIFA Fan Festival in East Downtown is suspended temporarily on Saturday due to thunderstorms in the area. The Fan Festival will reopen as conditions permit, officials said. This comes as several fans from Sweden and the Netherlands marched down Houston streets on their way to Houston Stadium for Saturday’s FIFA World Cup match.

HOUSTON (CW39) — A German soccer fan has been getting VIP treatment since arriving in the U.S. for the World Cup. And most of the credit goes to the Houston Texans’ legend, J.J. Watt. After interacting with a fan called FreddyLA7 on social media, Watt worked to put Freddy in an expensive suite at the Post Oak Hotel and gave him some Texans merchandise in the suite as Freddy came to Houston to see Germany in the World Cup.
