Robust inference and correlates from genetic associations with personality
Abstract Personality traits describe stable differences in how people think, feel and behave, and how they interact with and experience their social and physical environments1,2. Many questions remain unanswered about associations between DNA and personality traits, such as their robustness, their generalizability and the biological and social pathways through which they act.
Deciphering the influence of socioeconomic status on brain structure: insights from Mendelian randomization - Molecular Psychiatry
Abstract Socioeconomic status (SES) influences physical and mental health, however its relation with brain structure is less well documented. Here, we examine the role of SES on brain structure using Mendelian randomisation. First, we conduct a multivariate genome-wide association study of SES using educational attainment, household income, occupational prestige, and area-based social deprivation, with an effective sample size of N = 947,466.
Mitochondrial DNA copy number is associated with cognitive function, cognitive decline, and dementia: a longitudinal study in UK Biobank.
The authors have declared no competing interest. C.X. and W.D.H. are supported by a Career Development Award from the Medical Research Council (MRC) [MR/T030852/1] for the project titled From genetic sequence to phenotypic consequence: genetic and environmental links between cognitive ability, socioeconomic position, and health.
The Farm Animal Genotype–Tissue Expression (FarmGTEx) Project - Nature Genetics
|
Abstract Genetic mutation and drift, coupled with natural and human-mediated selection and migration, have produced a wide variety of genotypes and phenotypes in farmed animals. We here introduce the Farm Animal Genotype–Tissue Expression (FarmGTEx) Project, which aims to elucidate the genetic determinants of gene expression across 16 terrestrial and aquatic domestic species under diverse biological and environmental contexts.

Lifetime brain atrophy estimated from a single MRI: measurement characteristics and genome-wide correlates
Abstract A measure of lifetime brain atrophy (LBA) obtained from a single magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan could be an attractive candidate to boost statistical power in uncovering novel genetic signals and mechanisms of neurodegeneration.
Investigating the impact of poverty on mental illness in the UK Biobank using Mendelian randomization - Nature Human Behaviour
Abstract It is unclear whether poverty and mental illness are causally related. Using UK Biobank and Psychiatric Genomic Consortium data, we examined evidence of causal links between poverty and nine mental illnesses (attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anorexia nervosa, anxiety disorder, autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and schizophrenia).
Deciphering the Influence of Socioeconomic Status on Brain Structure: Insights from Mendelian Randomization
Abstract Socioeconomic status (SES) influences physical and mental health, however its relation with brain structure is less well documented. Here, we examine the role of SES on brain structure using Mendelian randomisation. First, we conduct a multivariate genome-wide association study of SES using individual, household, and area-based measures of SES, with an effective sample size of n=893,604.
Dissecting Biological Pathways of Psychopathology using Cognitive Genomics
Abstract Cognitive deficits are known to be related to most forms of psychopathology. Here, we perform local genetic correlation analysis as a means of identifying independent segments of the genome that show biologically interpretable pleiotropic associations between cognitive dimensions and psychopathology.
Evidence of horizontal indirect genetic effects in humans
Abstract Indirect genetic effects, the effects of the genotype of one individual on the phenotype of other individuals, are environmental factors associated with human disease and complex trait variation that could help to expand our understanding of the environment linked to complex traits. Here, we study indirect genetic effects in 80,889 human couples of European ancestry for 105 complex traits.

Regional variation in health is predominantly driven by lifestyle rather than genetics
The objective of this work was to disentangle genetic and environmental components of health-related traits, linked to geographic variation.
