Crime-hit city centre alley to be gated off
The council said criminal activity in the alleyway had a negative impact on the area Plans to gate off a notorious city centre alleyway that has become a hotspot for crime and anti-social behaviour have been approved. Police call-outs to the 11m (36ft) alleyway, which links Ivegate and Tyrell Street in Bradford, have become "unsustainable", according to a council report. In one of the latest incidents last week, West Yorkshire Police said an 18-year-old man had been stabbed in the alley.

The search for 24-year-old Dominic Liam Connelly, a murder suspect who authorities said also stabbed a deputy, stretched into Halloween night. The Craven County Sheriff's Office on Friday shared new photos of Connelly, who authorities said was seen on a trail camera in the area of 10000 US 17 in Vanceboro after the search moved into Beaufort County on Cc Rd. following another sighting. As of Saturday afternoon, Connelly remained on the run.

Former GM Randy Mueller: Ravens 'Don't Have A Lot Of Options' Regarding Lamar Jackson
The Baltimore Ravens have a big decision to make this offseason regarding former MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, and many NFL teams are waiting for the outcome. Jackson, 26, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but the Ravens are expected to franchise tag him. He missed six games this season (including one playoff game) due to a sprained PCL that he suffered in the first half against the Broncos in Week 13 of the regular season.
Scientists reveal the least costly carbon capture method to date
The new carbon capture method recycles CO2 The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) offered a dire warning to the world with its climate change report last year. The report outlined several measures aimed at mitigating the worst effects of climate change. The report highlighted the fact that simply reducing emissions was no longer enough; we will also have to remove CO2 from the atmosphere using carbon capture and storage technologies.

I remember the first time wind energy emerged as a serious contender in the UK’s energy provision. It was 6 November 2012, and the country’s electricity use from wind hit an all-time high in the middle of the afternoon, at 9.3%. The casual observer wouldn’t have noticed, and the expert wouldn’t have been surprised, but for people between those poles, it was astonishing.

Aging cannot be reversed, a common 'fact' that most people believe worldwide. However, a recent study by scientists at Boston Labs revealed that blind mice have had their eyesight and health restored. Through the research, the mice also developed healthier muscles and younger brains. In contrast, the study also showed that young mice aged prematurely with devastating health results. 6 DAYS AGO
NASA's TESS spacecraft discovers a new planet roughly the same size as Earth
NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) spacecraft identified an Earth-size world called TOI 700 e, located in its star's habitable zone. Initial analysis shows the world is 95 percent Earth's size and is likely rocky, a report from NASA reveals. The discovery sheds new light on exoplanets that could harbor life, revealing new insight into our own solar system formation.

Have you heard of the first time man drove to the moon? In 1971, crewed by Commander David R. Scott, Command Module Pilot Alfred M. Worden, and Lunar Module Pilot James B. Irwin, Apollo 15 took off, and along with them was the first Lunar Roving Vehicle, or LRV for short. This 460-pound (208 kg) marvel would clock 17.5 miles (28 km) around the lunar landscape as part of its mission. 1 DAY AGO
A drone that never lands? Scientists in China test lasers to keep drones aloft 'forever'
Laser-powered drones could remain aloft "forever" The team of researchers reportedly fitted a drone with a photoelectric conversion module that converts light energy into electricity. That means a high-energy laser beam could be trained on the drone to charge it remotely. The team carried out a recent experiment for what they call optics-driven drones (ODD), during which they tested the automated charging process that tracks the drones during flight.

Chris Young: Has Jones become a passing fancy for Pats?
Editor’s note: This column was written before New England’s 22-17 victory over the Jets on Sunday. Imagine, for a moment, that you are Patriots quarterback (for now) Mac Jones. When you graduated from the University of Alabama in 2021, you were viewed as a smart, accurate passer who was among the most NFL-ready offensive players in the 2021 draft class.

Chris Young: Boston's one-time sports nemeses now nuisances
Last week, we looked at what seems to be a slowly-fading rivalry between the Red Sox and the Yankees, which got me to thinking: Do the other three major local sports teams still have legitimate heated rivals? In many ways, it doesn’t seem that the long-ago competitiveness with traditional rivals is still really simmering. Let’s start with the Bruins.
Chris Young: The Red Sox' blame game: Pitching staff edition
Yes, the Boston Red Sox have won the World Series four times this century, which is more than any other team has, but now Boston is headed for its fourth last-place finish in the AL East since 2012, and its fifth if you count the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Three weeks ago, we looked at who’s to blame as far as the team’s outfielders go for this unexpected fall from grace, and two weeks ago we looked at the infielders, and today we’ll look at the team’s pitching staff. Josh Winckowski.
YOUNG: Ranking North America's happiest sports cities
Welcome to our annual rankings of the “happiest” sports cities in North America, on the heels of our recent listings of the “saddest” sports metropolises. To be included on this list, the city must have at least three pro teams (and we’re not counting MLS), so that wipes from our rankings such prominent locales as Kansas City, Seattle, St. Louis and Buffalo. We’ll count the cities down from those that are pretty happy to the cities that are borderline ecstatic.
YOUNG: Counting down the saddest sports cities in North America - Part 2
Welcome to Part Two of our annual rankings of the “saddest” sports cities in North America. Obviously, there are still a lot of cities that are clamoring for a sports crown of any kind, and many on this year’s list have been waiting a long time. That being said, two cities from last year’s list — Atlanta (fifth) and Denver (seventh) — had good things happen since last year, so they are no longer found here, and have been replaced by two other down-on-their-luck sports towns.
YOUNG: Ranking the saddest sports cities in North America
Welcome to Part One of our annual rankings of the “saddest” sports cities in North America. We will count down cities ranked 10th through sixth today, and next week we will follow up with the five most depressed sports towns. Obviously, there are still a lot of cities that are clamoring for a sports crown of any kind, and many on this year’s list have been waiting a long time.

YOUNG: Happy birthday Bill Belichick -- now what?
When Bill Belichick climbed out of his bed Saturday morning and looked at himself in the mirror, for the first time in his life, he was looking at a 70-year-old face. So happy birthday, legendary Patriots head coach. In an NFL Films production of “A Football Life” shot back in 2009, Belichick, who had won “only” three Super Bowls with New England at the time, offered a glimpse into his thoughts about the future. “I have a hard time picturing not coaching football at this point,” he said.
The Art of Using Symmetry-and Asymmetry-in PCB Design
The Art of Using Symmetry—and Asymmetry—in PCB Design An empty board outline is a PCB designer’s empty canvas. Components are the designer’s paint palette, and the traces are the brush strokes used to blend and mesh the components together on the canvas. The subject matter is defined by the schematic entry and the tone is often set according to the purpose of the design. The subject matter’s form emerges during placement and takes shape when routed.

YOUNG: Legendary NFL teams that maybe, just maybe, weren't
Sometimes as we get older, we look back on the “Good Old Days” with fondness and admiration. This is particularly true for sports fans, as they remember certain eras and trends in a certain way. But sometimes what we remember, particularly in terms of teams and perhaps even dynasties, is not really an accurate representation at all.
YOUNG: After peaks, valleys, Celtics facing uphill battle
Here’s hoping you had a Merry Christmas! Let’s hop into the Way-Back Machine once more, and chart a course for — not that long ago, actually — the fall of 2017.
YOUNG: For the most part, parity seems to have returned to the NFL
In the NFL, the college draft, the salary cap, and free agency are all designed to give each team pretty much the same chance to succeed each season. That makes the fact that the Patriots won six Super Bowl titles (and had three other losing appearances) in an 18-year period all the more difficult to figure out, as are the franchise’s 16 AFC East crowns (including the last 11 years) over that same time.
YOUNG: Contenders and pretenders at the NFL's halfway point
En route to their fourth Super Bowl championship in 2014, the New England Patriots opened that year with a disheartening 33-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins — a team that hadn’t had a winning season since 2008 and would finish the season 8-8. Three weeks later, New England traveled to 1-2 Kansas City and got its doors blown off, 41-14. “We’re on to Cincinnati,” head coach Bill Belichick memorably deadpanned two days after that disastrous defeat.

YOUNG: Titles always the talk of the town in these winning cities
Last week, we counted down the nation’s saddest sports cities. This time, we’ll flip it to the bright side of life, and take a glance at those North American sports cities that wear the biggest smiles. The parameters remain the same: To be included on this list, the city must have at least three pro teams (and we’re not counting MLS).

Top Seven Trends For Online Video In 2011
by Naomi , Chris Young , December 7, 2010 As we count down to the end of what's been an incredible 2010 in the world of online video and advertising in general, I think it's the perfect time to take a look at what trends we'll see emerge and grow in the coming year. Here's what I think we'll be talking about when looking back on what made 2011 more successful than we could have possibly imagined: 1. Branded entertainment will see even more explosive growth.
6 Strategies to Manage Conflict and Improve Working Relationships
Conflict among people is a tale as old as time. Much like any other business collective, automotive retailers can become gossip factories or feel like a battle ground where arguments and negative encounters between employees or with customers turns the dealership into an unhealthy environment.
Four Ways to Improve Your Online Video Ads
by Naomi , Chris Young , June 12, 2006 Online advertising has made enormous strides in recent years. Once marginalized, the Internet is now a vital and indispensable component of a successful media mix. As more and more advertisers continue to shift their focus online, it's a simple fact that from banners to e-mail to rich media and video, we've come a long way, baby.
Thanks To Technology, Video is Everywhere
by Naomi , Chris Young , October 21, 2009 Let's go back for a moment to 1955 in America -- imagine Kansas City or New York City -- people woke up and started their morning by turning on their television sets to catch "The Today Show" on NBC. After finishing up their first cup of coffee and morning toast, they jumped in their cars and flipped on the radio to listen to more morning news on the way to work.
Top Reasons Your Online Consumers Just Aren't That Into You
by Naomi , Chris Young , June 8, 2010 The focus of IAB's Innovation Days conference during Internet Week NY is "Content may be king, but all the power still lies in the hands of consumers." As advertisers increasingly embrace branded content and online video as a primary marketing channel, this concept could not ring truer.

‘Borderline Personality Disorder' - change the story
When people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) present themselves, or, just as frequently, are presented to mental health professionals, it’s not uncommon to see them as a cluster of symptoms that confirm that diagnosis. All being well, and if resources allow, professionals concerned respond accordingly - with chemical and talking therapies - more often than not, responding to the presenting problems. And there’s the flaw.
Kingsley: 'Ghost' [Song Premiere]
R&B-inflected pop singer-songwriter Kingsley made the jump from Chi-Town to P-Town a year and a half ago. A week after graduating from Northern Illinois University, she followed a romantic relationship out west (it didn't work out but don't stress, it was for the best) and found a fresh love for making music and being a part of the local music scene. After landing a job as an artist liaison for The Old Church concert hall, she "dove right back into the music world," Kingsley says.
