INTRODUCTION Vitiligo is a chronic autoimmune disease caused by a deregulation of the immune response that results in epidermal melanocyte destruction.1 With a variable and unpredictable disease course consisting of stable periods, spontaneous re-pigmentation, and new patches or flares, it should no longer be considered a cosmetic disease.
