Trump floats renaming New Mexico as ‘New America,’ prompting pushback

On social media, Trump shared an image of a map of New Mexico with the word “Mexico” crossed out with a red X and replaced with “America.” The White House reshared the image shortly after on its official X account.

The judge ordered the release Monday, rejecting a request from prosecutors that she remain in custody while awaiting trial on two felony charges. Federal prosecutors led by Pirro asked the court to reverse the decision, arguing that Melissa L.

Reported Ship Seizures Add to Anxiety in Oil Markets
Oil was trading above $100 a barrel again Thursday after Iranian forces claimed to have seized two cargo ships near the Strait of Hormuz, injecting fresh fear into energy markets with no public indications of a breakthrough in efforts to restart U.S.-Iran peace talks. President Donald Trump told Fox News on Wednesday that there was “no time pressure” on holding a new round of talks or on the ceasefire, and “no timeline” for ending the war.

Opinion: AI meets manufacturing: Bridging the gap with local expertise - Springfield Business Journal
According to Gartner’s 2025 industry benchmarks, information technology departments in manufacturing are facing significant budget constraints, even as the demand for their services continues to rise. Deloitte’s latest outlook reinforces this trend, noting that economic and geopolitical pressures are forcing manufacturers to make tough decisions about where and how to invest in technology.
Letter: Birthright citizenship
Sally Wasielewski, in her letter published on May 22 suggested I study history of immigration problems in 1868 as a result of my letter published on May 21. I would suggest that she work on her reading comprehension. She explains that there were anti-immigrant attacks on Germans and Irish Catholics resulting in riots. I don't question that.

The Danticleer: ‘Darkness Is Cheap’ (Revisited)
DAN-NOTE: In my haste to deliver last week’s exciting edition of THE DANTICLEER to the appropriate office at CITIZEN CENTRAL, Iinadvertentlyomitted part of the phone message left for me by one Ebenezer Scrooge on my answering machine. To get my vast audience back up-to-speed, I repeat a portion of the full message complete with cited omissions and my response; edited for length. Before the holiday season Eb asked me what kind of a gift I would like to have under the tree.
Letter: Palestine and Hamas
I have to disagree with Fred Abood letter printed in the Daily Star on January 7. He compares Israel's war with Hamas to Hitler's Holacaust. There are major differences between the Holacaust and Israel waging war with Hamas. Germany was never attacked and no foreign government called for the complete annihilation of Germany. The goal of Hamas is to destroy Israel.
Republicans Walk Out of Governer's State of the State
I've read many of the letters published and Tim Stellar's column criticizing the several GOP Legislators who boycotted, walked out, or turned their backs on Governor Hobbs while she was making her State of the State speech last week. I agree that their actions were inappropriate, rude, and disrespectful not only to the Governor but also to the residents of Arizona.
Pac-12's Greatest Rvalry
I moved to Southern Arizona 3 years ago after spending my first 68 years in Southern California. I've come to enjoy Greg Hansen's sports column but have to disagree with him that the UA-ASU rivalry is the best in the Pac-12. I graduated from USC in 1973 and the rivalry between USC and UCLA is unmatched. The fact there isn't a name for the game is irrelevant - it doesn't need one! They have been the Number 1 and Number 2 teams in the country when they've met.
Election Chaos in Maricopa County
I find it ironic that the problems with tabulating the vote in Maricopa County is not because of mail-in balloting or ballots left at drop boxes, but mail-in ballots dropped of on election day and voters that voted in person on Nov 8. I live in Pinal County. For the last three elections I received and filled out my mail-in ballot and deposited it at the drop box at the courthouse in Oracle a week or more before the election.
Tuesday Election and Daily Star Editorial Page
If the letters published in the Daily Star are any indication of how the election will turn out Democrats have nothing to worry about. At least 90% of those published attack GOP candidates and many predict the end of democracy if Lake, Finchem and Masters win and the Republicans control Congress. No doubt the Editors will respond that the letters printed reflect the balance of those submitted.
Crafting a Successful Partnership with a Contract Research Organization
Within the biopharmaceutical industry, there are companies of various sizes sharing a common goal: to create new treatment options. Successful companies must constantly evaluate their capabilities and know when to expand internally to fill a need or when to collaborate with an external organization to advance their pipeline. Coming from the perspective of an emerging biotech company, we have firsthand experience recognizing the specific skills needed in a collaborator.

An Advance in Steel Deck Framing
My company has built numerous outdoor living projects using a multitude of materials and products, but when it comes to the framing for decks, our go-to has been light gauge steel (LGS). When we first started using LGS approximately seven years ago, it was new to the market and the options were limited. With the help of our architect and approval of the local building inspector, we cobbled together our first design from several LGS manufacturers.
To understand the statue, watch “The Birth of a Nation”
The detailed histories of Talbot County in the Civil War era presented recently by Ms. Mielke and Mr. Callahan, with pushback from Mr. Terrone, are all very interesting, and a dazzling display of their knowledge of the war period. But as to the Statue, these particular histories are completely beside the point.
