Frailty phenotype and long-term mortality after curative colorectal cancer surgery: a retrospective multicenter cohort study
Abstract Background: Frailty is associated with poor short-term surgical outcomes, but whether the Fried frailty phenotype is associated with long-term mortality after curative colorectal cancer (CRC) surgery, independently of age and tumor stage, is uncertain. We examined this association using restricted mean survival time (RMST), which does not require proportional hazards.
Case Report: A neonatal case of Elizabethkingia anophelis sepsis complicated by meningitis and intestinal necrosis: a triumph of multidisciplinary management
Abstract This case reports a 10 day old neonate with fulminant Elizabethkingia anophelis sepsis presenting as disseminated infection involving meningitis and intestinal necrosis. Pathogen identification was achieved on hospital day 2 by metagenomic next generation sequencing and confirmed by blood and cerebrospinal fluid cultures, enabling antimicrobial susceptibility guided therapy.

Control Is Not the Same as Board Leadership: Why Do PE-backed Companies Appoint Outside Chairs?
Private equity (PE) investors are commonly portrayed as highly active owners. They negotiate extensive control rights, appoint directors, approve major strategic decisions and closely monitor performance. Against this background, one governance choice remains surprisingly underexplored: why do some buyouts appoint a new outside chairperson while others do not? This question matters because a chair is not a mandatory feature of private company boards.

Effects of WeChat-based palliative care intervention on cancer-related fatigue among lung cancer patients: a randomized controlled trial
Abstract Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a debilitating symptom affecting patients with lung cancer. While palliative care interventions have shown promise in managing CRF, accessible and scalable solutions remain limited. This study evaluated the efficacy of a WeChat-based palliative care intervention in alleviating CRF among patients with lung cancer.

Spatiotemporal control of myoblast identity drives muscle diversity in the Drosophila leg
Abstract INTRODUCTION RESULTS DISCUSSION MATERIALS AND METHODS Acknowledgments Supplementary Materials REFERENCES Information & Authors Metrics & Citations View Options References Figures Tables Media Share Abstract Skeletal muscles exhibit notable morphological diversity, yet the developmental mechanisms specifying distinct identities are unclear. Using Drosophila leg muscles, we show that naïve mesodermal precursors undergo stepwise specification orchestrated by epithelial morphogens.
A Study on the Influence Mechanism and Enhancement Strategies of Teacher Agency in Chinese Primary and Secondary Schools in the Context of Inclusive Education
ABSTRACT Teacher agency is central to effective practice within China’s ‘Learning in Regular Classroom’ (LRC) model for inclusive education. This study investigated the mechanisms underlying teacher agency by surveying 1,385 LRC teachers in Chinese primary and secondary schools and assessing their perceptions of school inclusive climate, job stress, and teacher agency.

Thymopentin enhances adenoviral oncolytic therapy by regulating macrophages and CD8 + T cells
Abstract Oncolytic viruses are cancer therapies that selectively replicate in tumors, deliver therapeutic genes, and stimulate immune responses. Combining these viruses with immune-boosting agents could enhance their effectiveness. Thymopentin (TP5), an immune-modulating peptide, may enhance the antitumour efficacy of ADV. We tested TP5 combined with adenovirus type 5 in tumor models, measuring tumor growth and immune changes using flow cytometry and antibody-based cell depletion.
TCL1A mediates DNA methylation defects in recurrent hydatidiform mole with NLRP7 pathogenic variants - Nature Communications
Abstract Pathogenic variants in NLRP7, implicated in 55% of recurrent hydatidiform mole characterized by hypomethylation at maternally methylated imprinted regions, are proposed to disrupt de novo DNA methylation in human oocytes. However, the precise mechanism remains unclear. Here, we identify TCL1A, a DNMT3A inhibitor, as an endogenous NLRP7-interacting partner. The cryo-EM structure of the NLRP7-TCL1A complex reveals its fundamental architecture.
Spatiotemporal evolution and influencing factors of the agricultural carbon footprint in the yellow river basin
Abstract In the context of China’s “dual carbon goals” (carbon peak and neutrality goals) and the ecological conservation and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin (YRB), understanding the characteristics of spatiotemporal evolution and the factors influencing the agricultural carbon footprint (ACF) is essential for developing effective policies to reduce agricultural carbon emission (ACE).

Giant Isotope Effect in Metal-Organic Frameworks Boosts Unprecedented Photo‐ and Radio‐Luminescence Enhancement
1 Introduction Isotope effect (IE) is the variation in the physical and chemical properties caused by isotopes [1, 2], which share the same atomic number but differ in neutron number. Protium/deuterium is the most extensively studied pair due not only to the relatively low cost of deuterium but also to the most pronounced IE whose magnitude is generally correlated with the relative mass difference between isotopes [3, 4].

Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Few studies have examined the environmental fate of quinotrione, a new type of 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD)-inhibiting herbicide in plants. In this study, the uptake, translocation, and metabolism of quinotrione in pak choi were explored using 14C-labeling method and high-resolution mass spectrometry. The results showed that 57.7% of 14C-quinotrione was accumulated by pak choi via foliar application.

A Transcriptome‐Wide Association Study Identifies Candidate Susceptibility Loci and Genes for Lung Cancer Risk
1 Introduction Lung cancer (LC) is one of the most common cancers and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, affecting both men and women [1]. Tobacco smoking remains the primary risk factor associated with the development of LC [1]. Other risk factors include alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet, family history of lung diseases, and various environmental and occupational exposures. Genetic factors significantly influence lung cancer risk.

Non-coding genetic elements of lung cancer identified using whole genome sequencing in 13,722 Chinese - Nature Communications
Abstract A substantial portion of lung cancer-associated genetic elements in East Asian populations remains unidentified, underscoring the need for large-scale genome-wide studies, particularly on non-coding regulation. We conducted a whole genome sequencing (WGS)-based genome-wide scan in 13,722 Chinese individuals to identify regulatory elements associated with lung cancer. We verified common-variant-based loci by meta-analysis across the available East Asian studies.
AI‐Assisted Detection of Intracellular Bacteria in Peripheral Blood Granulocytes: A Case Report
The detection of bacteria, especially intracellular bacteria, through morphological examination in sterile body fluids is of great significance for disease diagnosis. The detection of intracellular bacteria in peripheral blood smears is relatively rare in clinical practice, yet it holds great significance for the early treatment of patients. 1 Introduction Bloodstream infections are life-threatening with rapid progression and high mortality.
The aerodynamic forces and wake characteristics of pantograph for a high-speed train entering/leaving tunnel
