Hot and humid 4th, scattered storms around
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - After a very warm and fairly dry start to the holiday weekend, we’re expecting more in the way of showers and thunderstorms today. We’ve already seen a localized spot of 2-3 inches of rainfall in northern Chambers County earlier this morning, with the rain finally tapering off there. Radar Scattered showers and thunderstorms are starting to build elsewhere in the area, with pop-up storms possible through the evening into the overnight hours.
Humidity Increases, Rain Chances Return This Week
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — After dry and mild conditions last week, humidity has returned to South Georgia as the flow has returned from the Gulf, pumping in moisture leading to cloud cover and increased rain chances. With the increased moisture, the 50s and lower 60s of last week are long gone, with temperatures starting out this morning in the low to mid 70s. Highs today and tomorrow will be in the mid to upper 80s, with the thermometer creeping at or above the 90 degree mark by midweek.
Fire Weather Concerns Today, Warming Up This Week
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - After overcast conditions yesterday and this morning, we’ll see clearing skies through most of South Georgia from west to east today. Areas east of I-75 will be the last to clear, and locations along the US 84 corridor near and east of Valdosta may see the overcast through the day along with a chance for rain showers. Highs will be in the 75-80 degree range west of I-75 and mid 70s east of I-75.
