Academy Season Review 2024/25

2024/25 marked the third full season since the reintroduction of the Academy, following County’s return to the EFL in 2022. It was a landmark year — from our debut in the U21 Premier League Cup to multiple trophies returning to County, and a life-skills event designed to prepare our players for life beyond football. Stockport County U15 crowned EFL U15 Floodlit Cup National Champions

Sunday was a historic day for the Academy, as the U15 team won the EFL U15 Floodlit Cup at Edgeley Park, defeating Bournemouth 3-2. Two goals from Joel Stott, separated by a Sam Sheridan strike, saw County lift the trophy, despite a late fightback from the visitors. County nearly got off to a flyer as Sheridan was released on goal. The winger twisted and turned inside the box, but saw his strike brilliantly tipped onto the crossbar.

U21s to play Middlesbrough U21 at Edgeley Park

County’s U21 team will face Middlesbrough U21 team in a friendly at Edgeley Park on Tuesday 29th April at 7pm. The U21 team will be looking to build on a successful first season. Their first outing in the U21 Premier League Cup was a success, as they finished in second place in their group, but narrowly missed out on qualification for the knockout rounds. Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions, and are available here.
