Injuries, interceptions plague Patriots through first two weeks
After an abysmal season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, where Drake Maye and the New England Patriots could barely get anything going, the team needed a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their home opener on Sunday. Although the 20-3 win boosted morale, the team still has many glaring issues to fix. In week one, Drake Maye saw ghosts from Super Bowl past, throwing three interceptions, two of which were entirely his fault, including one that sealed the loss for the Patriots.

Sadie Brandt – Editor-in-Chief crank 2 – Slayyyter There isn’t much that Slayyyter can’t cure, including a case of horrid senior-itis. The long-awaited sequel to my spring anthem “CRANK,” otherwise known as the loudest song ever created, doesn’t disappoint. Packed with Slayyyter’s trademark tongue-twisting lyrics and backed by tornado sirens, “crank 2” is as chaotic and banging as its predecessor and the only song strong enough to keep looming thoughts of the future at bay.

Private Equity: In the Doldrums and Out of Favor with Some Institutional Investors
For years, private equity funds attracted institutional investors — pension funds, university endowments, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds – that could afford to tie up funds for long periods of time with a promise that returns would substantially outperform the stock market. And, during the go-go years between 1995 and 2000, the median fund in a smaller PE industry did outpace a rising stock market.
The Spirit of the Holidays
One year ago, writing on wine for the holidays, I commented that with 2024 looking like a lost cause I’d just toast 2025. If things got worse I’d consider toasting 2026 with spirits rather than wine. So, here we are. This year even toasting itself is under threat. Health authorities warn ominously that “there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.” Doesn’t that take the edge off the holiday cheer? It’s also an annoying swing of the medical pendulum.
Untangling Warrant Agreements: What Companies and Investors Need to Know
Daniel Stone of Olshan Frome Wolosky. Courtesy photo Too often, the drafting process for securities warrants gives little thought to the miscellaneous provisions buried at the end of the contract. This section, perhaps copied and pasted from a prior contract, includes the critically important ‘choice of law and forum’ provision which can dictate the speed, cost, and outcome of any eventual litigation.
Biden's cancer diagnosis should be a teaching moment
Former President Joe Biden's metastatic cancer diagnosis brings together two controversial issues: PSA testing for prostate cancer and presidential politics. To understand what is at stake Americans need basic information about PSA testing, and a frank discussion of the reasoning behind the prostate cancer screening decisions in the former president's case. The dribble of information we've gotten only creates more uncomfortable questions for Biden and his family.

The book is in stores on Tuesday, Feb. 18th from Dutton. Click on the link to buy a copy. https://amzn.to/3BV8G72 At noon on October 27, 1924, a factory worker was admitted to a hospital in New York City, suffering from hallucinations and convulsions. Before breakfast the next day, he was dead. Alice Hamilton was determined to prevent such a tragedy from happening again. By the time of the accident, Hamilton had pioneered the field of industrial medicine in the United States.
How Alice Hamilton Waged a One-Woman Campaign to Get the Lead Out of Everything
One day in March of 1911—the same month as the infamous Triangle shirtwaist factory fire in New York City that trapped and killed 146 workers—a woman named Alice Hamilton arrived at the Sangamon Street works, a lead-smelting plant on Chicago’s East Side, and asked to take a look around. The owner welcomed her in. She was a small woman, unassuming. What harm could she bring to a powerful boss? She walked by the kettles and furnaces. She observed the sweating men holding shovels and prods.

So you don’t like Trump or Harris - here’s why it’s still best to vote for one of them Original
Many Americans are not thrilled with either of the two major-party candidates for president. As of Oct. 4, 2024, polls showed that 46.5% had an unfavorable opinion of Kamala Harris and 52.6% felt unfavorably toward Donald Trump. Some of these unhappy voters are considering voting for a third-party candidate, or not voting at all. They may be thinking of those actions as a form of protest against the two-party system dominant in the United States, or against these two particular candidates.

Gene editing for latent herpes simplex virus infection reduces viral load and shedding in vivo - Nature Communications
Abstract Anti-HSV therapies are only suppressive because they do not eliminate latent HSV present in ganglionic neurons, the source of recurrent disease. We have developed a potentially curative approach against HSV infection, based on gene editing using HSV-specific meganucleases delivered by adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors.
How SAG-AFTRA's AI Road Map Works In Practice
A close read from a lawyer on the gains in the collective bargaining agreement addressing artificial intelligence — from digital replicas to synthetic performers. Last year will likely go down as the moment that artificial intelligence came of age. In November 2022, OpenAI released the first iteration of its chatbot, ChatGPT. The world spent 2023 amazed by the potential of ChatGPT and grappling with its consequences.
Daniel J. Stone: What a doctor sees when Joe Biden hesitates
As a geriatrician, I discuss the effects of aging with patients every day. I wish I had a chance to give my usual talk to everyone who chortles or tears their hair out about President Joe Biden’s fitness for his job. Three components of memory should be considered: One is formation. Then storage. And finally, recall. The most common issue among seniors is slow recall. This is the familiar “tip of the tongue” phenomenon, when a word seems to hide or a name won’t come to mind.
