An integrated multiomic single-vesicle atlas delineates graft exosome heterogeneity in chronic lung allograft dysfunction
Abstract The underlying mechanisms of exosomes in chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) remain poorly understood. The primary challenge lies in the substantial functional heterogeneity of exosomes in CLAD. In this study, lung transplantation was initially performed, followed by the generation of a chronic rejection (CR) model in rats to simulate CLAD in humans.
Thy1 retroviral reporters: a versatile platform for congenic background-independent adoptive transfer and CD8 + T cell differentiation studies
Abstract Adoptive T cell transfer remains a fundamental technique for dissecting the molecular mechanisms governing T cell differentiation. A successful adoptive-transfer experiment typically relies on labor-intensive construction of specific congenic mouse strains to distinguish donor from host cells. This limitation may be addressed by a readily detectable surface reporter.
Semantic and analogical distance in cultural stimuli relate to design creativity
Abstract In complex product form design, cultural element integration can enhance design uniqueness and identity. Cultural stimuli—visual stimuli with cultural characteristics—are associated with cognitive processes involved in creativity. However, because cultural stimuli integrate semantic concept and visual form, the cognitive and neural patterns linking these dimensions to design creativity remain to be explored.

A 3D endometrium-on-a-chip reveals the role of conceptus-derived factors CAPG and PDI in conceptus-endometrial communication
Abstract Early embryo loss affects all mammalian species, including humans and agriculturally important food-producing mammals such as cattle. The developing conceptus (embryo and extra-embryonic membranes) secretes factors which modify the endometrium and can be critical for early pregnancy processes such maternal recognition of pregnancy (MRP) and enhancing uterine receptivity to implantation. For example, a competent bovine conceptus secretes IFNT to initiate MRP.

Association between mosaic loss of chromosome Y and pulmonary fibrosis susceptibility and severity
Abstract Background: Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a rare lung disease with diverse pathogenesis and multiple interconnected underlying biological mechanisms. Mosaic loss of chromosome Y (mLOY) is one of the most common forms of acquired chromosome abnormality in men, which has been reported to be associated with increased risk of various chronic progressive diseases including fibrotic diseases. However, the exact role of mLOY in the development of PF remains elusive and to be elucidated.
SiPM joint likelihood reception for mobile LED-optical communication under pointing errors
Light-emitting diode (LED)-optical communication is a novel spectrum communication with wide field of view (FOV), light weight, and long-distance free-space capabilities. Due to atmospheric turbulence attenuation and pointing errors caused by long-distance communication, this Letter proposes a multi-pixel channel joint maximum likelihood (JML) reception method using a highly sensitive silicon photomultiplier (SiPM).
The embryo-derived protein PDI is highly conserved among placental mammals and alters the function of the endometrium in species with different implantation strategies.
Abstract Pregnancy establishment in mammals requires a complex sequence of events, including bi-lateral embryo-maternal communication, leading up to implantation. This is the time when most pregnancy loss occurs in mammals (including humans and food production species) and dysregulation in embryo-maternal communication contributes to pregnancy loss. Embryo-derived factors modify the function of the endometrium for pregnancy success.

Spin–orbital angular momentum degeneracy breaking in nanoplasmonic metachain
The spin and orbital angular momentum (namely SAM and OAM) mode division provides a promising solution to surmount exhausted available degrees of freedom in conventional optical communications. Nevertheless, SAM and OAM are often subjected to the degeneracy of total angular momentum (AM) because they both have integer variables of quantum eigenstates, which inevitably brings about the shortcomings specific to limited signal channels and multiplexing cross talk.

A burst of genomic innovation at the origin of placental mammals mediated embryo implantation - Communications Biology
Abstract The origin of embryo implantation in mammals ~148 million years ago was a dramatic shift in reproductive strategy, yet the molecular changes that established mammal implantation are largely unknown. Although progesterone receptor signalling predates the origin of mammals and is highly conserved in, and critical for, successful mammal pregnancy, it alone cannot explain the origin and subsequent diversity of implantation strategies throughout the placental mammal radiation.

Damage identification using deep learning and long-gauge fiber Bragg grating sensors
Abstract This study proposes an innovative structural damage identification method using dynamic response measured by long-gauge fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors and accelerometers to train deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs). At the same time, the pre-trained model is applied to another structure through transfer learning (TL) technology. To verify this method, the I-shaped steel beam vibration test was conducted at first.
Non-Brownian Interfacial Diffusion: Flying, Hopping, and Crawling
In theoretical work beginning in the 1990s, O’Shaughnessy and co-workers predicted that for lateral diffusion at a solid-liquid interface, a key step involves desorption, excursion through the liquid phase, and readsorption to the interface. This step was expected to dominate two-dimensional surface diffusion over certain time scales, leading to anomalous diffusion; in practice, such liquid-phase excursions could significantly impact the efficiency and kinetics of interfacial processes.
Electrostatic Barriers to Nanoparticle Accessibility of a Porous Matrix
Translocation from one cavity to another through a narrow constriction (i.e., a “hole”) represents the fundamental elementary process underlying hindered mass transport of nanoparticles and macromolecules within many natural and synthetic porous materials, including intracellular environments. This process is complex and may be influenced by long-range (e.g., electrostatic) particle–wall interactions, transient adsorption/desorption, surface diffusion, and hydrodynamic effects.

The Transcription Factor Runx3 Establishes Chromatin Accessibility of cis-Regulatory Landscapes that Drive Memory Cytotoxic T Lymphocyte Formation
T cell receptor (TCR) stimulation of naive CD8+ T cells initiates reprogramming of cis-regulatory landscapes that specify effector and memory cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) differentiation. We mapped regions of hyper-accessible chromatin in naive cells during TCR stimulation and discovered that the transcription factor (TF) Runx3 promoted accessibility to memory CTL-specific cis-regulatory regions before the first cell division and was essential for memory CTL differentiation.
