AI won’t replace media agencies. It will redefine what clients value most
Opinion At Postcode Lottery Group, conversations about transparency, effectiveness, and agency value go beyond marketing performance. They become about maximising social impact. Every few months, another headline predicts that AI will make media agencies obsolete. If advertisers can plan campaigns, interrogate audiences, optimise media and generate reports using AI, why wouldn’t they simply bring everything in-house? It’s a fair question.

Farley stepping down as Citizens' Voice president, publisher
SCRANTON — Don Farley knows 37 years is a long time to spend with one company, even when you don’t spend it all in one position. Farley, president and publisher of Times-Shamrock Communications, announced he will leave at the end of December after a career with stops in every division of the Scranton-based company that publishes The Citizens’ Voice, The Times-Tribune in Scranton, The Standard-Speaker in Hazleton and the Republican Herald in Pottsville.
Hispanic Role in Stonewall Riots and Current LGBT Issues -- AARP VIVA
En español | Editor's note: June 28 marks a milestone in the history of civil rights, one in which Hispanics have played a key role. On that date in 1969, the gay rights movement galvanized in New York’s Greenwich Village to stage what is now known as the Stonewall riots. Here we take a look back at the role Hispanics played, how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go. It’s difficult to imagine police handcuffing, harassing, and arresting gay people just for gathering in public.
Those at high risk of contracting coronavirus live with constant worry
Article Tools More than half of the people admitted to Pennsylvania hospitals for treatment of COVID-19 in the past four weeks have been at least 65 years old. But, the coronavirus does not just pose an elevated danger to the aged. Tens of thousands of individuals across Northeast Pennsylvania live — and often struggle daily — with underlying medical conditions that place them at higher risk for severe, potentially life-threatening coronavirus infections.

The Census Bureau has placed partnership specialists in every county in Pennsylvania and tasked them with not only educating elected officials and key stakeholders about the importance of completing the 2020 census, but also identifying partners who can influence populations that may be more difficult to reach.
Flu season could be weakening
Article Tools The flu season continues to spread misery across Pennsylvania, though there are signs it could be losing some of its punch. Updated figures released Tuesday by the state Department of Health show 12,194 confirmed new cases of influenza statewide last week, bringing the number since the season began to 86,654. The new cases include 181 in Schuylkill County, putting its season total at 1,542. Neighboring Luzerne had 382, bringing its season total to 2,251.

Stonewall at 50: Still Making Our Place
“We have to read this new book for book club,” my friend Michael told me during a fall afternoon call in 1994, back when people still telephoned each other without texting first. I was 32 and Michael was a role model for me at the time – in his early 40s, dashing, russet-haired and could pull off a turtleneck in winter better than anyone. He was sophisticated and determined that our book club should be a gay salon overstuffed like his throw pillows with important ideas.
What if winter becomes just another memory?
Editor’s note: This is part of a series looking into the impact of climate change in Northeast Pennsylvania. In his 32 years at Elk Mountain Ski Resort near Union Dale, general manager Gregg Confer has seen almost everything at one time or another. Cold winters. Warm winters. Wet winters. Dry winters. The most striking difference these days, he said, is the lack of anything in between. “Overall, the weather patterns seem to go in extremes anymore,” Confer said.
Casey claims third term in US Senate
Bob Casey and Lou Barletta each carried his home county in Tuesday’s election for U.S. Senate. Only one carried the day, though. Casey, the incumbent Democrat from Scranton, piled up big numbers statewide to claim his third term in the Senate with a decisive victory over the Republican Barletta, the fourth-term U.S. representative from Hazleton.
There’s an emerging face in business: Immigrant retailer
Luci Costa darts around her dress shop in South Scranton on a Wednesday afternoon. The owner of Elizabeth’s Boutique, 724 Cedar Ave., moves quickly, and the conversation shifts even faster. There’s always so much to do, especially at this time of year with proms and First Holy Communions, she says. A high school semi is coming up Friday, she explains. She still has two dresses to finish up for that.
The wrong side of history: My uncle’s Supreme Court stand against interracial marriage
I sat through the film "Loving" like a man with a secret, unable to experience it as the purely historical tale I imagine most did. As the credits rolled, I thought of the real Lovings whom I’d seen on YouTube videos, discussing their case in the late 1960s with TV interviewers, while their young children played on their porch. The film actors playing these two unlikely civil rights heroes captured Mildred’s resolute softness and Richard’s fearful simplicity.
Caring for Our Wounded Warriors
“I thought I was going to spend the next few years dreaming about retirement, not taking care of my injured son.” So said a woman in her early fifties to me at a party several years ago, as she described her life as a new, fulltime caregiver. Returning from a tour of duty in Afghanistan after two years, her twenty-something son faced an uphill battle recovering from a traumatic brain injury and partial leg amputation.
Crush: Writers Reflect on Love, Longing, and the Lasting Power of Their First Celebrity Crush
In terms of being taken seriously, a book about crushes — inherently meaningless, one-sided emotional affairs — faces an uphill battle. A book about celebrity crushes seems defeated before it leaves the gate. In Crush: Writers Reflect on Love, Longing, and the Lasting Power of Their First Celebrity Crush, then, editors Cathy Alter and Dave Singleton overcome some long odds in presenting a collection of essays that intrigues more often than not.

LGBT Senior Housing Options
Moving to an assisted living home should never mean stepping back into a closet. That seems obvious to those of us living out and proud lives in post-Stonewall Riots America. But fears of rejection and of being ostracized are ever-present realities for many seniors in -- or considering moving to -- shared senior living communities. Find Assisted Living That Fits You One Man's Fear I saw the fear firsthand when I volunteered at a senior living community in Washington, D.C., a few years ago.
