The Lowdown On High-Concept: Ryan Carey Reviews The Seeds By Ann Nocenti And David Aja
As admittedly cliched as it may sound, Ann Nocenti and David Aja’s new graphic novel The Seeds (Dark Horse/Berger Books, 2021) isn’t afraid to get its hands dirty. Some comics have a “lived-in” look and feel and indeed overall ethos to them, but this takes it a step further, narratively and visually communicating a world that’s dying out, its future Earth a dilapidated husk that most people have fled, in every way but the physical, for virtual technotopias.

It’s one of my favorite films of all time and became a bit of an obsession while we worked on the board game. Jason’s gorgeous rendering of Outpost 31 is enough to put a huge smile on my face but his surprisingly effective thin geometric title treatment really puts this one over the top.

7 Graphic Novels to Read if you Love FX's Legion
From the first five minutes of FX’s new show Legion, in which we watch as a happy young boy slowly ages into a tortured, mentally ill adult, I was hooked. The combination of pathos and astounding visuals was enough to sell me on this superhero story, long before there were any kind of super-heroics involved.
