Integrated single-cell and spatial transcriptomic profiling in ALS uncovers peripheral-to-central immune infiltration and reprogramming
Abstract Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disorder marked by progressive motor neuron (MN) degeneration in the brain and spinal cord. Although neuroinflammation is increasingly recognized as a hallmark of ALS, the precise molecular programs linking immune responses to MN pathology remain poorly defined.
Mosaic integration of spatial multi-omics with SpaMosaic
|
Abstract With the advent of spatial multi-omics, mosaic integration of diverse datasets with partially overlapping modalities enables the construction of comprehensive multimodal spatial atlases from heterogeneous sources. Here we present SpaMosaic, a tool that uses contrastive learning and graph neural networks to build a modality-agnostic, batch-corrected latent space for spatial domain identification and missing-modality imputation.

Astrocytes engineered to fight Alzheimer’s plaques
Abstract Alzheimer’s disease (AD) remains elusive to treat despite extensive knowledge of its pathological hallmarks. In AD, amyloid-β (Aβ) aggregates into extracellular plaques, and this aggregation is thought to ignite a pathological cascade leading to brain inflammation, intraneuronal tau protein aggregation, and, ultimately, neuronal loss. Because Aβ aggregation is a primary driver of AD pathogenesis, therapeutic strategies, including monoclonal antibodies, have focused on clearing brain Aβ.

A single-cell atlas to map sex-specific gene-expression changes in blood upon neurodegeneration - Nature Communications
Abstract The clinical course and treatment of neurodegenerative disease are complicated by immune-system interference and chronic inflammatory processes, which remain incompletely understood. Mapping immune signatures in larger human cohorts through single-cell gene expression profiling supports our understanding of observed peripheral changes in neurodegeneration.
Clonally expanded, targetable, natural killer-like NKG7 T cells seed the aged spinal cord to disrupt myeloid-dependent wound healing
Keywords NKG7 granzyme K NKLT cells CD8+ T cells spinal cord injury regeneration wound healing repair aging Introduction While most demographic data indicate that spinal cord injury (SCI) affects mainly young males, with average age at the time of injury being in their forties,1 SCIs have been occurring at an increasing rate in the expanding aging population.2,3 The mammalian CNS has a limited ability to self-repair that further declines with aging, where mortality and functional impairment...

Dysregulation of brain and choroid plexus cell types in severe COVID-19 - Nature
Abstract Although SARS-CoV-2 primarily targets the respiratory system, patients with and survivors of COVID-19 can suffer neurological symptoms1,2,3. However, an unbiased understanding of the cellular and molecular processes that are affected in the brains of patients with COVID-19 is missing.
Physiological blood-brain transport is impaired with age by a shift in transcytosis
Abstract The vascular interface of the brain, known as the blood–brain barrier (BBB), is understood to maintain brain function in part via its low transcellular permeability1,2,3. Yet, recent studies have demonstrated that brain ageing is sensitive to circulatory proteins4,5. Thus, it is unclear whether permeability to individually injected exogenous tracers—as is standard in BBB studies—fully represents blood-to-brain transport.
Clonally expanded CD8 T cells patrol the cerebrospinal fluid in Alzheimer’s disease
Abstract Alzheimer’s disease is an incurable neurodegenerative disorder in which neuroinflammation has a critical function1. However, little is known about the contribution of the adaptive immune response in Alzheimer’s disease2. Here, using integrated analyses of multiple cohorts, we identify peripheral and central adaptive immune changes in Alzheimer’s disease.
Undulating changes in human plasma proteome profiles across the lifespan
Abstract Aging is a predominant risk factor for several chronic diseases that limit healthspan1. Mechanisms of aging are thus increasingly recognized as potential therapeutic targets. Blood from young mice reverses aspects of aging and disease across multiple tissues2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, which supports a hypothesis that age-related molecular changes in blood could provide new insights into age-related disease biology.

FanDuel EPL DFS Soccer Analysis – September 22 2018
This is the best slate of the Premier League season so far. For a start it is the biggest. We have seven games and 14 of the 20 EPL teams to choose from. We also have four of the ‘big six’ sides meaning the top players won’t be as chalk as they are on normal Saturdays. The two Manchester sides are facing newly promoted teams. Man City travel to Cardiff in the biggest mis-match of the day. Their rivals Man Utd are hosting Wolves which could be a tricky game for the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
FanDuel EPL DFS Soccer Analysis – Sep 15 2018
Is there anyone who like the international breaks? Fans, players and managers all detest a halt to the Premier League season after just four weeks and EPL DFS players hate it the most. Where else are you going to get tilted on a Saturday morning? Thankfully the EPL is back this Saturday with a very tasty six game slate featuring four of the ‘big six’ sides. Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur play in the early game but the other four all feature on the main FanDuel slate.
FanDuel EPL DFS Soccer Analysis – August 25 2018
This week on the main FanDuel EPL slate for Saturday we have five games and ten teams to draw our rosters from. The slate is topped by the high-priced Liverpool forwards who have a prime matchup at home to Brighton & Hove Albion in the late game. Last week was a little down with the Bournemouth/West Ham game not taking off in the way I’d hoped. They made their predicted over 2.5 goals but barely.
FanDuel EPL DFS Soccer Analysis – August 18 2018
Well I hope you enjoyed the season opener! I had a great week doubling my money although I failed to cash in GPPs I found the green in all my cash games and head-to-heads. I mainly have Crystal Palace to thank for that with Wifried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka combining to push me into the money. My big pick of last weekend Ruben Neves was outstanding – bagging a goal and an assist in a stellar performance. 100% exposure to him really helped my bank balance.
FanDuel EPL Soccer DFS Analysis – August 11 2018
The long summer wait is finally over and we can back to our Saturday morning ritual of cashing in EPL DFS! The World Cup was incredible but won’t be back for another four years. The Premier League is our bread and butter and we are going to eat! Punters are still coming to grips with the unpopular changes FanDuel made to their EPL scoring system.
FanDuel World Cup DFS analysis – Friday July 6 2018
This has been an incredible World Cup and the round of 16 did not disappoint with drama and surprises. Now we are down to last 8 in the Quarter-Final round. There are no soft teams left and draw has given us some very even matchups. You can argue that the four best teams left are all playing today in this half of the draw. Brazil, the tournament favorites, are against the heavily tipped Belgium side. There will be no other game in the competition with as much attacking talent on display.
FanDuel World Cup DFS Analysis – Tuesday July 3 2018
The round of last 16 is almost over at this World Cup and by the end of Tuesday we will know the eight quarter-finalists vying for the big prize. Spain were the latest big team to depart the competition yesterday leaving only four previous winners; Brazil, Uruguay, France and England. Today’s slate sees one of those teams looking to advance as England take on Colombia. The other game today is the early matchup between Sweden and Switzerland.
FanDuel World Cup Analysis – Saturday 30 June 2018
Now the real business begins. Yes group games are fun but the real tournament kicks off on Saturday with an incredible four team slate. No more plucky countries with feel good stories as they try to frustrate superior opponents. This is the best 16 teams in the world, duking it out. And what a first slate. We have the prime matchups of France v Argentina and Portugal v Uruguay. That means we get Messi and Ronaldo; Suarez and Griezmann. Plus a host of other global names to pick from.
FanDuel World Cup Soccer DFS Analysis – Friday June 22
Today was a better day. Some of yesterday’s picks did very well (Thank you Mbappa and Modric). However a dubious Australian penalty robbed Kasper Schmeichel of clean sheet which hurt with France and Croatia both shutting out the opposition. Which brings us to Argentina; the biggest disappointment in this world cup. I warned people off Messi and Argentina – Croatia are no longer dark horses, they are just horses. But I talked myself into some Messi exposure which hurt me.
FanDuel World Cup Soccer DFS Analysis – Thursday June 21 2018
FanDuel were able to get out their all day slate earlier so I can cover all three Thursday games. This slate has many of the pre-tournament favorites; France, Argentina and dark horse Croatia. Much of my lineups will be drawn from these teams. I love France in their matchup with Peru. The South Americans were very competitive in their opening game with Denmark, but this talented French team will be another level for them. The premium game of the day is Argentina v Croatia.
FanDuel World Cup Soccer DFS Analysis – Wednesday June 20 2018
The first round of group fixtures are over and we head into the second week of action. This has been a lot of fun to watch. Which is a good job because it has not been much fun for me from a DFS perspective. I can’t catch a break. Messi misses a penalty. Mandzuick and Gueye both have goals ruled as own goals. Sending offs. Injuries. I am on a tilt. However the games keep coming and the luck will change eventually right? Right? FanDuel continues to frustrate it’s soccer fans.
World Cup 2018 Set Piece and Penalty Takers – Helpful DFS Guide
Whenever you are building a winning DFS lineup you need information. It is important to gather as much as much as possible to find that nugget to help separate your lineup from the pack. There is no more important info is soccer DFS than who is taking set pieces. Corners, free kicks and penalties are crucial parts of the game. They are also some of the only truly predictable moments of a soccer match.
FanDuel World Cup Soccer DFS Analysis – Saturday June 16 2018
There are four games Saturday in the FIFA World Cup but FanDuel have created a three game slate for the three later games. While bigger slates are better at least we won’t have to wake up at 5am EST to check team sheets! Instead we get to 9am EST before the lineups lock. The three games on this slate are; Argentina v Iceland; Peru v Denmark; Croatia v Nigeria. Having one of the tournament favorites in Argentina on the slate means we get to see Lionel Messi – the best player in the world.
FanDuel World Cup Soccer DFS Analysis – Friday June 15 2018
I am hyped! This is the biggest sports tournament on Earth. The FIFA World Cup kicks off today in Russia with the hosts taking on Saudi Arabia. There are single game slates of FanDuel but the real DFS action kicks off tomorrow with the three game Friday June 15 slate. The three group games are Egypt v Uruguay; Morocco v Iran; and the big one, Portugal v Spain. It is a fantastic first slate for the tournament with global stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez and Mohamed Salah taking the field.
Five reasons Nabil Fekir will choose Liverpool transfer over Chelsea
Liverpool are famous under Jurgen Klopp for fast paced, lightning football. Now the club are moving as quickly off the field as Mohamed Salah moves on it. The sudden transfer of Fabinho from Monaco yesterday signals a determination to do this summer’s transfer business in swift and clinical fashion. Next on the transfer list is Lyon forward Nabil Fekir. The Frenchman has had a break out season with 23 goals and 9 assists from an attacking midfield position.
FanDuel EPL DFS: Fixtures, Flyers & Fades – May 5 2018
There are only two more Premier League weekends left until the season over. It flies by and we have made good money since last August. While some of the teams who are safe from relegation may ease off the gas, we will be full steam on these last few slates. Most of the action this week centers around teams who are fighting for survival. West Brom face the only big six side in Spurs; Swansea are away at Bournemouth; Southampton play Everton in the last game.

(Photo by Mark Runnacles/Getty Images) The big news today is that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will leave the club after 22 years this summer. Speculation turns immediately to his successor. It is an ex-Liverpool boss that is top of the list potential candidates.
FanDuel EPL DFS: Fixtures, Flyers & Fades – Mar 31 2018
The pointless international friendlies are over and we can get back to the real stuff of the Premier League as we hit the last two months of the season. This is gameweek 32 and the year has flown by. There is a seven game slate for us this week giving us plenty of options and likely variance to help us cash. Two weeks ago we had a bumper week with Mohamed Salah racking up 100 FanDuel points to lead all those lines into the green.
FanDuel EPL Soccer: Fixtures, Flyers & Fades – Mar 17 2018
Although it is an FA Cup weekend there are enough Premier League teams out of the competition to put together a smaller EPL slate. There are four games and eight teams for us in a nice size competition. I am giving my column from last week a B minus grade. Nick Pope, Wilfred Ndidi and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all came good. The fades of Southampton, Huddersfield and Swansea all paid off and watching the chalky Lanzini stink was a good call. Saying that we missed with Murray & Gross over Vardy & Mahrez.

Liverpool hit injury crisis with Lovren, Matip & Can missing
The Liverpool defense is being torn to shreds by the press and by the fans after a series of errors and poor results. If you thought things could only get better, then think again. The Reds’ first choice center backs and most physically imposing midfielder all missed training today. Dejan Lovren is struggling with a back injury that has kept him out of the last two games. He is very doubtful to miss the trip Leicester on Saturday.

Liverpool have had many free transfers over the years and we have picked the seven who have become Anfield heroes. Some of these are current players while others gave us a few seasons of magic. Each has found the adoration of the Kop and cult status. Free agents often arrive unwanted by their previous clubs with much to prove. These seven chose Liverpool as the place to show the world their worth and ability. We are in the age of the $100 million transfer.
