Finding Faith: After the election, choose connection over division Original
MOORHEAD — This week, we held our elections. Everything from the local dog catcher on up to our congressional representatives. And predictably, some folks are ecstatic, and others not so much. So, it seems to me, we’ve got two choices. We can either perpetuate the agonizing political divide with some more of the same. Or we can take the opportunity to heal the divisions of the past decade or so. Because it really does come down to a choice for each of us.
135,000 words and counting; so what comes next?
Finding Faith The other day I remarked to Shelley this column is my 260th installment of this little series I write about finding faith in everyday circumstances. In other words, happy fifth anniversary to me! “Two hundred and sixty columns. That’s a lot of words,” she deadpanned. A lot of words indeed! About 135,000 of them as a matter of fact. I’ll let you decide whether any of them were important.
Finding Faith: Five years and 135,000 words later, faith is still found in everyday choices

$40M payday would fund emergency shelters for 8 years
Finding Faith Lord have mercy. $40 million to play basketball for one season. Good work if you can get it, as they say! Last week, I learned via radio news as I was driving home from a concert enjoyed in the Big City, where my professional basketball teams (don’t snooze on the WNBA!) of choice reside, I learned the resident NBA team granted that jawdropping, one-year contract extension to one of its stars.

Regardless of the election, you can still love your neighbor
Finding Faith In a couple of weeks, we will hold in America what we call our midterm elections. We shouldn’t have to remind ourselves of this, but given the current division in America, I think it’s worth noting that, friends, it’s really still only an election. Oh, I know that increasingly we continue to divide ourselves into political camps, drawing lines of demarcation and vowing to avenge the wrongs of those who differ politically with us. But in the end, it still is just an election.
Finding Faith: No matter the election results, we can all choose to do good
