(WLS) -- The first segment of the I-490 interchange opened Friday on the Tri-State Tollway. It's just south of O'Hare Airport near Franklin Avenue in Franklin Park near Bensenville. The multi-billion-dollar tollway is being built to ease congestion around the big airport.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The CTA is marking two major milestones this summer, one of them includes more work to the ongoing State and Lake reconstruction project. It's been one year since four rebuilt Red Line stations in Uptown and Edgewater reopened as part of the $2.1 billion Red and Purple Line Modernization project. CTA says riders have taken 4.3 million trips through the new Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn and Bryn Mawr stations since they opened.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago police squad car was involved in a crash in Humboldt Park on Tuesday morning. Chopper 7 was over the scene near Hamlin Avenue and Division Street at about 6:30 a.m. Chopper 7 was over a crash involving a Chicago police squad car in Humboldt Park on Tuesday morning. The CPD squad car was seen with its airbags deployed and heavy damage to the front end. Video shows two officers being taken in an ambulance with what appeared to be minor injuries.

Ohio Street ramp to close this weekend for repairs, IDOT says Original
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A major street closure begins this Friday in Chicago, the Illinois Department to Transportation said. The closure comes as crews will work on concrete pavement patching to repair the Ontario and Ohio Street ramps. This is the second of three planned weekend closures. Starting at 11 p.m. Friday, June 26, Ohio Street will be fully closed between the Kennedy Expressway and Orleans Street.

A 23-year-old man from Hammond was killed Wednesday morning after his car became disabled along Interstate 80. His family spoke exclusively with ABC7 as they are searching for answers and urging drivers to slow down and move over for those on the roadside. Sebastian Stone had just left home and was heading to work in Elk Grove Village when his trip was cut short near Torrence Avenue on I-80 west in Lansing, according to Illinois State Police.

LANSING, Ill. (WLS) -- A pedestrian was killed on I-80/94 in the south suburbs on Wednesday morning, according to Illinois State Police. The crash happened at about 5:29 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Torrence Avenue, police said. Police confirmed that one person died. ISP said initial reports indicate the person killed was struck while changing a tire. The investigation caused a major traffic backup into the Indiana state line.

COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- The I-55 Stevenson Expressway saw extensive delays on Thursday after a semi hit a bridge, and crews cleaned up a large spill. Chopper 7 was over the scene just after 7 a.m. on the inbound lanes of I-55 at La Grange Road. A semi appeared to have hit the overpass bridge, leaving a spill on the expressway. Video from Chopper 7 shows at least one other semi involved. It was not immediately clear what spilled on the expressway, however Hazmat crews were called.

LAKE STATION, Ind. (WLS) -- A semi carrying mail packages split in half in northwest Indiana on Thursday morning. The crash happened at about at 4:15 a.m. on the ramp from NB I-65 to eastbound I-80/94, Indiana State Police said. Police said the semi-truck hit a pole, causing the trailer to split open. The truck was carrying postal products, according to police . Chopper 7 was over the scene as packages were scattered across the ramp.

Chopper 7 was over the scene at about 6:30 a.m. showing at least six vehicles involved in a crash near Division Street. At one point one vehicle was seen facing the opposite way. It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries in the crash. Crews cleared the crash off the expressway by 6:57 a.m., however the crash caused a backup and delays for morning commuters.

Police arrested the 29-year-old suspect, who was out on parole and has an extensive criminal history, after an hours-long manhunt, police said. CHICAGO (WLS) -- IDOT warned that a massive pothole on the feeder of the Kennedy Expressway could cause some flat tires on Veterans Day. The massive pothole is on the Ontario Feeder west of Orleans as drivers head onto the outbound Kennedy Expressway. The pothole is on the left lane of the feeder, IDOT says to avoid it, simply take the right lane. IDOT Minutemen said they would handle to pothole at some point during the day. So far, its not clear if any vehicles have reported any damage.

COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- A crashed semi blocked the I-57 exit ramp to I-80 on Tuesday morning in the south suburbs. The crash happened on the northbound I-57 ramp to westbound I-80 exit ramp. Chopper 7 was over the scene at about 7 a.m. as crews worked to clear the road. The load was left hanging off the guardrail, it did not appear that the semi lost its load. CHICAGO (WLS) -- A crash left a dangerous situation on the WB I-290 ramp to SB I-294 on Monday morning. The Illinois Tollway announced that beginning overnight Sunday into Monday, the ramp connecting westbound I-290 to southbound I-294 was scheduled to close. However, Chopper 7 was over the scene on Monday at about 6 a.m. as traffic began to build on what was supposed to be a blocked ramp. It appeared that a driver got out of their vehicle and moved the barricades blocking the ramp.
