The first day of June, the first day of meteorological summer, and the first day of Hurricane Season. First, a recap of 2025’s season. There were 13 names storms last season. 5 of which reached hurricane status, and 4 major hurricanes, 3 of them which were Category 5 storms. While the season was active and there were impacts to the Carolinas and East Coast, it was the first time in a decade no storm made landfall in the US.

Hurricane Preparedness Week

The start of hurricane season is more than a month away. It runs from June 1st through November 30th, and peaks mid August through mid October. Ahead of the season, this week is Hurricane Preparedness Week. It’s a push that reminds us to be ready for hurricane season.
