Am a former senior journalist of The Times of India in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. I hold the M.Sc, LL.M and Ph.D degrees. My super-specialization at the Ph.D degree of the University of Mumbai was Media Law with emphasis on the print media. Had topped the LL.M examination of the University of Bombay (as it was earlier known) in May 1990. Awarded a silver medal for topping in International Law + Jurisprudence.
Right now, am a Columnist on the Edit page of Free Press Journal every Friday where I started off as a trainee journalist way back in 1982. After nearly 25 years in hard-core reporting, mostly on courts and the law, I shifted to practicing law myself. Started my career as a lawyer in IPR in Mirchandani & Co. before moving on to Brus Chambers as a Senior Associate Advocate and then to K.Ashar & Co., and Singhania & Co., all well-reputed solicitor firms in Mumbai city. I also was a Senior Associate Advocate in Al Alawi & Co., Sultanate of Oman which was a fascinating experience as I got to observe how courts function abroad.
With my combination of science, law and journalism, I would love to contribute to international newspapers and also law journals abroad. My email i.d. is : drolav123@gmail.com. Would love to hear from you.
