Mike Boynton Jr. named Michigan head coach, signs two-year deal

Michigan has removed Mike Boynton Jr.’s interim tag. The Wolverines announced Friday that Boynton has been named head coach and signed a two-year contract. The decision comes almost three weeks after Dusty May took the Dallas Mavericks job on June 22nd. Boynton had already been serving on an interim basis, but a formal plan for the future has been announced.

Freshman forward Quinn Costello staying at Michigan

Incoming freshman forward Quinn Costello will stay at Michigan for 2026-27, he told Joe Tipton. Costello is a 6-foot-10 forward who was one of the breakout prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. He’s an elite shooter with intriguing size, and played his way onto the McDonald’s All-American team. He’s ranked 32nd in the class, per 247 Sports Composite.
