Another primary election season is upon us! Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez’s announcement last year that she would not seek reelection set off a scramble for power as a handful of challengers look to replace her in New York’s 7th congressional district. We’re interviewing four of those contenders—Vichal Kumar, Antonio Reynoso, Claire Valdez, and Julie Won. All four are running as progressive candidates. We recently spoke to Julie Won, City Council Member for District 26.

Chipotle Officially Opening in Greenpoint After Years of Speculation

Three years ago, while trawling through a community board agenda, we noticed that one fast casual mega-chain appeared to be making moves in Greenpoint. Chipotle applied for a license at 885 Manhattan Avenue, a storefront that most recently housed a 7-Eleven. But nothing ever came of it, despite a Google Maps listing (earning the chain an average 1.8 rating across 5 reviews).
