The state has bought a site on O'Connell Street in Dublin as part of the Metrolink project. Spanning 200 metres, it will allow for a station along the capital's main thoroughfare. The land is a portion of a large plot owned by property group Hammerson and is the former site of the Carlton cinema. The company has long planned to redevelop the entire site but has faced a number of objections.

Dublin city council is to honour the creche worker who helped shield children during the Parnell Square attack in Dublin. An event is planned for later this year to recognise the bravery and courage shown by Leanne Flynn. She was hospitalised for a month after being stabbed during the attack on November 23rd 2023.

The clampdown applies when buying financial products or services online or over the phone. Stronger practices around financial transparency are also expected to be signed into law today. Today’s change means you will legally be able to request a human on the phone, instead of a bot, or automated system, if you’re buying a product or service.
