Toyota's Most Popular Truck Is No Longer Trading On Its Name Original
The champ is back in the ring and in better shape than ever. After nearly 20 years of minor changes following Toyota’s time-honored product strategy of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” the brand has introduced an all-new Tacoma with a clean-sheet build, adding new trim levels, new powertrains, and all the creature comforts one now expects even in a mid-size pickup.
Someone Finally Made an EV for Traditional Driving Enthusiasts
The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is a gift to driving enthusiasts that nobody saw coming. More than a car, it’s a cultural artifact. A hatchback with 641 horsepower and a track-tuned suspension, the Ioniq 5 N also just happens to be an EV. The 5 N is a radical reinterpretation of what a hot hatch can be.

Hydroelementation and Phosphinidene Transfer: Reactivity of Phosphagermenes and Phosphastannenes Towards Small Molecule Substrates
Abstract We describe the facile synthesis of [(Me3Si)2CH]2E=PMes* (E = Ge, Sn) from the reaction of the tetrylenes with the phospha-Wittig reagent, Me3P–PMes*. Their reactivity towards a range of substrates with protic and hydridic E–H bonds (E = N, O, Si) is described. In addition to hydroelementation reactions of the E=P bonds, we show that these compounds, particularly [(Me3Si)2CH]2Sn=PMes*, also act as base-stabilized phosphinidenes, allowing phosphinidene transfer to other nucleophiles.

The 22 Best Things I Bought This Year
With 2022 nearly wrapped, I wanted to share a list I've been working on for the past year, knowingly or not: my 22 favorite gear acquisitions, ranging free to up there, utilitarian to indulgent. As a working dad, the stuff I buy typically triangulates around three different areas: parenting, functional and personal. These days, that third category doesn't see all that much action, but great finds in the first two can be quite fulfilling.

Building a Product Recommendation System with your Sales Data
This is a post sharing my implementation of a product recommendation system from end to end. The recommendation system I built is based on item-item collaborative filtering. We’ll build a multi dimensional vector representation of a product via a co-occurrence matrix and find similar products measured by the cosine similarity between all product vectors. In terms of application, this system was builtto power e-commerce product to product recommendations.
Interview with Ry Richards of Chappellet
WAS THERE A MOMENT THAT YOU REMEMBER WHEN YOU KNEW YOU WANTED TO BE A WINEMAKER? My first vintage was an internship at William Harrison winery in St. Helena. Somewhere between my first inoculation and first pump-over, I knew I was done looking for a career. Becoming a winemaker became my mission at that moment. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST WINE JOB? My first wine job was in a retail shop stacking cases when I was sixteen.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST MEMORY OF COOKING AND WHAT DID YOU COOK? Oatmeal cookies when I was about 8 years old and I added a cup and half of baking soda instead of a teaspoon and a half. WHAT WAS IT LIKE WORKING AT THE LEGENDARY CHEZ PANISSE RESTAURANT? ISN’T THAT A HARD ROLE TO LEAVE? It was like working at the Harvard of restaurants. Everyone was so talented and had the same philosophy. I didn’t want to leave and talked to Alice about it. She found a new job for me “tasting” for her.

SUTRO Wines A Women-Owned Healdsburg Winery I Love
I have come to adore SUTRO Wines over the years. SUTRO Wines was founded by Winemaker and Artist Alice Warnecke Sutro in 2012. Since then, it has blossomed into a wonderful winery with a delightful selection of wines grown from volcanic terroir. I was lucky to get to know and interview her for the blog. It was not her passion for winemaking that blew me away. It was also her work amplifying female voices in a predominantly male-dominated business.

Interview with Winemaker Vanessa Wong of Peay Vineyards
WAS THERE A MOMENT THAT YOU REMEMBER WHEN YOU KNEW THAT YOU WANTED TO BE A WINEMAKER? When I was in high school I worked for a wine & cheese shop in San Francisco. I was really interested in cheeses and cheese making but back then, other than cloistering myself with a bunch of nuns in the Jura to apprentice the making of Vacherin or working at some giant factory in Wisconsin making brick cheese, I didn’t really see a path in how to make cheese on a small commercial scale.

Interview with Wine Journalist Karen MacNeil | The Jetsetting Fashionista
WAS THERE A MOMENT THAT YOU REMEMBER WHEN YOU KNEW THAT YOU WANTED TO WRITE ABOUT WINE? Yes, I was in my early 20s in New York. After collecting 324 rejection slips from magazine editors, I got my first “big break” when the Village Voice published a piece of mine (it was on butter). Over the next several years, I became a fairly successful food writer, but I secretly really wanted to write about wine. The problem was, wine was terrifyingly complex and there was no way to learn about wine back then.

The Relationship of LVEF and Myocardial Scar to Long-Term Mortality Risk and Mode of Death in Patients with Non-Ischemic Cardiomyopathy
Abstract Background: Non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM) is a leading cause of reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and is associated with high mortality risk from progressive heart failure and arrhythmias. Myocardial scar on cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is increasingly recognized as risk marker for adverse outcomes, however LV dysfunction remains the basis for determining a patient's eligibility for primary prophylaxis implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD).
The $1 Coffee Cup That Changed My Morning Routine

I’ve run the morning coffee routine gauntlet, ranging from a grab-and-go Dunkin’ Donuts brew to that carefully pulled Americano sluiced into a titanium Snow Peak travel mug.
Implementation of Cardio-Oncology Training for Cardiology Fellows:
Introduction Cardio-oncology is a growing field that encompasses managing cardiotoxic effects of oncologic therapies and preventing cardiovascular (CV) disease in patients with cancer and survivors. The development of novel treatments and the emergence of atypical CV complications has created a need for subspecialty care (1–3). However, training in cardio-oncology is limited.
Prescribing Patterns of Onychomycosis Therapies in the United States

Testing AWS Lambdas Locally with a HTTPS Proxy
AWS Lambda is generally one of the easiest ways to deploy and execute code in the cloud, especially when deploying code with the sam CLI. The simplicity of serverless resource definitions coupled with the ability to package resources locally and ensure they run on AWS provides a beautiful development experience. Except sometimes this beautiful process can turn into a beast of a deployment when the build and package steps grow to ten, fifteen or (gasp) more minutes.
