What was your first job as a journalist?
Staff writer at my university's student run newspaper and a freelance writer for a magazine.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes!
How is social media changing news?
I get so many story ideas and news tips through social media. A lot of journalists couldn't imagine a world without it I am sure.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Superman !
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Truth telling with reason and integrity, getting the story to make sure people understand more so that they can make decisions.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
I forgot but it made everyone in the newsroom giggle!
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
The five w's
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
ENPS, AP wire, CNN news source, ABC extreme reach.

Why did you become a journalist?
My 4th grade class become a little newsroom after a student in my class asked my teacher if we could make a newspaper. I fell in love.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No but the first time I wrote for a school paper, believe it or not, was in the 4th grade!!!
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I am proud of all the stories I have done regarding health, education, and politics!
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be patient, and always ask for help!

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Sleeping!
