LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Lincoln County has confirmed its seventh rabies case of 2025. The rabies case was uncovered after a skunk got into a dog's outdoor kennel. The skunk was captured and sent to the North Carolina State Laboratory for testing and its rabies test came back positive. No humans were exposed to the infected skunk, but the dog had to get a rabies vaccination booster and will be observed for 45 days to ensure it doesn't have adverse effects from the exposure to rabies.
